September 29, 200223 yr Well, at least I bleieve that liberty of expression is something that must remain for all times, but don't forget that it cannot last without mutual respect of opinion.Andr
September 30, 200223 yr Glad to see I'm not the only one certifiable :) I too have found myself creating a flight with a non-PIC767 aircraft, only to find myself in the cockpit thinking "What the fcuk is this crappy shyte". Only exception is that I sometimes indulge in Paul Goldings 707.But I would love to have a choice of aircraft, something on par with the PIC767. My guess is that I'll have to sit tight and wait for the PIC320. If real life is anything to go by then I'm more than likely to find myself saying "what's it doing now?".Already looking forward to long and tedious hours in front of the PC, swearing and cursing Airbus for having a very different philosophy to that of Boeing. I belive it'll stop when the joyous senstation of auto-trimming finally kicks in (note to PIC boys, you blooody better incorporate the auto-trim function :) )Imagine that, taking the 767 for a spin, then dropping in to your favourite aerodrome, switch to an equally magnificant 320 and sod off in the wild blue yonder in search of Cumulu Granite to scare off the EGPWS with. That and Brianna Banks in my bed would make life comfortably close to perfect.
September 30, 200223 yr > switch to an equally magnificant >320 and sod off in the wild blue yonder [...]I doubt it. AFAIK the Airbus by Wilco is NOT being made by the same team who made the 767. I will also say this here and now//I like the PSS Airbus. It is a hoot to fly and once you understand her she flies quite well. I have no experience piloting an Airbus of any type, nor a 767, nor even a Cessna - but this is a fully enjoyable product. Sure, it will never ever EVER replace my 767 - but no matter how often I curse the bus, it always seems to stay in my hangar, which is NOT true for many other payware products that I have purchased over the years. Also, I might add. I took my first flight in my DF737 last night since upgrading to XP Pro and there was much improvement. I had settled on the fact that the FMC performed so poorly that I would have to fly her all the time as /A (try it someday the radios are fun to work ). Last night I was able to get the FMC up and running without any problems. Tried out nearly all of the features in the FMC (not including the hold) and everything appeared to perform as expected. VNAV was a little off on both the speed and the profile during the descent, but I must admint I am impressed by this product now.In the end - after a LONG LONG LONG day of flying on Sunday, it gave me a good opportunity to fly all three products, and my personal favorite has not changed.CYYZ KBOS - A320KBOS KDCA - A320 (Joined by Murf. I crashed during a GA, damned RWY01 LOC/GS at DCA is AFU and I totally botched the go around procedure and went down a few miles NE of the field. Really, crash due to my inexperiencd with handlying the go around in the airbus - time to hit the books.)KDCA TXKF - A320 (Joined by Murf and ACA856, Strong crosswinds and a VOR approach).TXKF KBOS - 767PIC (Murf and ACA856 again - ending with a beautiful piece of work by ATC to sequence us for 4R).KBOS CYYZ - 767PIC (ACA856 and myself, 856 provided an example of the PIC's power by climbing to FL390 in what seemed like seconds to pass over a slow flying - obviously non PIC - 767, ended it with a beautiful RNAV transition from the YOUTH1 to 24R)KDEN KSAN - DF737 (MB327 and I fighting insane headwinds). So do not sweat it Rob, the aviation gods will forgive you. Go home and say 9 Hail Boeings, and hand fly an entire flight from Ottawa to Toronto.Ian Elchitz CYWG
September 30, 200223 yr The PIC is my Sheppard, I shall not....Hale PIC, full of grace...PICcus maximus rulus requiem...Scarebus stupidus delerious..---------Sir Elchitz,Was fun flying around with you and Mike yesterday...good times.I will be flying the Ottawa-Toronto 6pm -767- flight (it's real world ;-) ) as usual when I get home from work tonight..as always..it's a nice "warm up" flight for me to start my evening off. Rob.PS - I notice awfulweather.com is no longer getting updated, anyone have the scoop on that...was an excellent way to find bad weather quickly.Robert the Unworthy.
September 30, 200223 yr If you like Paul's 707, I suggest you try the new 727 panel and a/c that came out about 6 weeks ago...I am sorry, I can't remember who did the panel, but it works like a charm and is all old school 70's style. The new Dash-7 panel is also very cool, the sounds and a/c visual are very good for freewhere. Sometimes one needs a change from the 767, I understand, just don't stray too far into the dark side as I almost did with the French tart ;-) Boeing is better.I don't think you are supposed to say 'sod' on the forum or 'fcuk' for that matter. Three hail/hale Boeing's and the PIC Prayer and you should be ok for a while...and stay off the Airbus, it's bad for your health.Rob.
September 30, 200223 yr This thread remembers me of a big controversy in the Netherlands in 1964 (I was only 10 at that time, but I got at least something from it).In a satirical TV program one of the presentors did an "Our Father", adapted to the TV world. "Thou shall only worship the screen" and words to that effect. It caused a big row and if I remember well, the program was banned from then on.We did come a far way from then however.Kind regards,Stephan Haas
September 30, 200223 yr Richard Probst did the 727 panel download it here:http://ftp.avsim.com/library/sendfile.php?DownloadID=19378Was reviewed in the bear's cave special edition:http://www.avsim.com/pages/0902/special/bearracing.htmWas also featured on the AVSIM home page here:http://www.avsim.com/cgi-bin/news/mainpage/arc5.shtmlThis panel is an absolute hoot, especially when used in tandem with one Mike Stone's excellent 727 GMAX models.Highly recommended and thanks to Henry Koch for putting me onto this one .Ian Elchitz CYWG
September 30, 200223 yr Nice work on the links ;-)Have not tried the BAC-111 yet, looks nice. The 727 panel is a hoot and reminds me how to 'really' fly a desk-jet...no FMC ;-)Rob.
September 30, 200223 yr 'I suggest you try the new 727 panel and a/c that came out about 6 weeks ago'You beat me to it Rob. If I'm not PIC'ing or doing a spot of GA then I invaribly take this bird to the skies. The panel (Richard Probst, filename rp727pn3.zip) is an absolute work of art. No AT and a working Sperry SP-50 AP. Can be a real handful on finals! :-boomI team it up with Mike Stones GMax model and Charles Foxs' updated airfile (rp727_cf1.zip).Trouble is with PIC is it's just too darn good. Flying the 722 is a nice reminder of when pilots had to work for a living :-hah http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3d9892501a49e370.jpg - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
September 30, 200223 yr ...and on the fifth day, the Lord PIC did come forth from on high and see the anquish thus of thy sinning child. For it is written that PIC Who Sits Most High is a forgiving and merciful sim. So it has come to pass that the Golden Scarbus has be cast into the pit of fire!On the sixth day He has the seen the suffering of the wayward child and heard the prayers and cries of anquish and suffering in the depths of the Scarebus and did not turn a blind eye. For it is uttered in sacred places that "he that turneth a blind eye and deaf ear to the Scarebus and doth refute this sinful knowledge and doth reinsert the PIC CD-ROM again within thy drive shall enjoy fruitfullness and prosperity!" And on the night of the sixth day, the Lord PIC did look upon the former wayward child and watched him rejoice in the restoration to glory that PIC has setteth his worn feet upon, for is it not the true majenta path? Go forth and proclaim that a Boeing MCDU is the TRUE MCDU and a Boeing EFIS flightdeck does not flyeth thine aircraft into yon trees!Go forth mine son and proclaim thine revelations; Never forget: Blessed is he who doth fly thine airplane with thine yoke. A thousand shall fall to thy side and ten thousand shall fall on thy left, but NONE of them shall be Boeings! So let it be written, so let it be done!
September 30, 200223 yr Bless you, Brother Mike, for your words of kindness, truth, and inspiration!Long live the PIC.Robert the Unworthy.
