October 13, 200223 yr Thanks for sharing all the wonderful shots....and people say FS2002's models are too shiny!Lee Hetherington (KBED)
October 13, 200223 yr BBall!EXCELLENT photos ! Please share more, if you have... I love reading these posts with photos of different phases of flight in them, and by the pilot himself, too! Btw. Get on with the PIC-review already ! LOL! Just kidding... and waiting anxiously ;)regards,Tero PPL(A)
October 13, 200223 yr Hey gents,Thanks for the kind words about the pics. An "old salt" 747 Captain told me years ago to never leave on a trip without a camera in your bag....good advice. (btw, if you want to see more of those kind of "airline" photos, there are plenty at my Column page over at Frugalsworld http://www.frugalsworld.com/columns/BBall.shtml ).Francois,The ATC button is not used by us at this time. It will be activated in the future when we start using datalink communications for some of the ATC clearances, etc.Lee,An airplane can never be too shiny, can it? Well, maybe a camo type paint scheme shouldn't shine too much. :)Tero,I hear ya bro...I'm working on it. :DThe "first installment" of the 767 Pilot in Command review is ALMOST ready (I've been having some discourse with my screen capture utility, so I switched to Paintshop Pro, and I think I've about got it ready to go. BTW, with pics, it's around 15 pages!!! It only covers the "normal" operations (emergencies or "adventures" will be covered in the second installment).here's a snippet: "Here
October 13, 200223 yr Capt. You write quite well. I did not read the whole thing yet but I read pieces about your Dad and your checkride on 757 including takeoff from Vail (!). Very interesting info. For example I had no clue that the checkride includes all aspects of being a pilot including interaction with flight attendents and communicating with passengers.Michael J. Michael J.
October 13, 200223 yr BBall,Just great!! I'm SO looking forward to the review, and I'm sure everyone else is too.I'm glad we have RL pilots immersed into this crazy hobby of ours!:)br,Tero PPL(A)
October 13, 200223 yr Looks great! Some pretty high V speeds there. If you wanted you could upload these to airliners.net.http://www3.sympatico.ca/walter.schachtschneider/outac.jpg_________________________ "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return"-Leonardo Da Vinci

October 14, 200223 yr WOW!!! First time I see a 757-300 I htought the cockpit was going to be like the 767-400/777 type cockpit I
October 14, 200223 yr >Why would you like to fly a 747 ??? >I find much better a 757 or a 767 but that
October 14, 200223 yr great pictures! thanks alot. Could you put the camera up in the window on the 'dashboard' and take a picture looking back towards the pilot and FO positions? I've never seen pics from that angle.
October 14, 200223 yr Does the plane smell new? I once road a public transportation busthat was just bought a month before. It smelled new.JimCYWG
October 14, 200223 yr Hey guys,I've got more pics from today's flight from PDX (Portland, OR) to MSP. I'll throw them up on a new thread.Michal,Thanks for the kind words...I've been writing for a long time, well, almost as long as I've been flying :). NWA actually pioneered the use of simulator periods called LOFTs (Line Oriented Flight Training) many years ago (they had been doing them for a long time when I was hired in '83). They treat one period of the simulator checkride (it lasts two days), as a "real" line flight. You're graded on your technical expertise, your aviating ability, and your CRM skills. We work with ATC, NWA Dispatch, the flight attendants, etc (all played by the simulator instructors) and the flight has everything from tech problems that your dispatched with (inop APUs, etc), to inflight medical emergencies, to wx problems requiring diverts, to inflight mechanical problems, etc. They make for VERY interesting sessions....oh, and they're video taped so you can review them at the de-briefing. I remember one where the Second Officer (when I was flying the DC-10) "died", and the Capt. and I had to fly the jet with an engine shut down to a low wx LOCALIZER only approach. It was quite a drill, and I'll never forget the S/O in the debrief saying how much "he learned" watching us....hehe...we wanted to wring his neck. He just sat in the back of the simulator and giggled at us the whole time....:D.Teropa,Yeah, I seem to be flying with more and more guys that are into (or getting into) flight sims. After a four day trip with me, I have most of them convinced they need to upgrade their PCs and jump in head first....LOL.A340Fan,It did seem to be a bit strange LANDING the -300 at the weight we normally take-off at in the -200. And the extra 15 kts or so coming over the fence on landing was very noticable. I just might have to get some of these to airliners.net...we'll see.Roberto,The 757 cockpit is a joy to work....I know the "new" ones are fancier, but that doesn't always mean better, right? AFA flying the 747? I've done it, and to tell the truth...it's VERY, VERY boring.Ryno,LOL.... you do have a point there. When I informed my beloved bride that I was seriously contemplating bidding the Airbus 330 when it arrives on property next spring...she was very ambivilent about it. HOWEVER, when I told her it would pay about the same at the 747...I think her exact words were..."Oh, then I think you definitely should fly that one....that's if you want to of course." :Dbiggestmuff,Not sure if my little Olympus would do the "fish eye" thing...but I'll give it a try.flightpro08,You're very welcome sir. My pleasure.jagabom,Did indeed smell new...:) And you're right, I look VERY short in that pic...and kind of fat too, thanks for pointing that out....LOL.later folks,BBall------------------------------Capt.
