November 21, 200223 yr Hi Laurent,Thanks for the reply...I will install the last PIC patch (for 3rd party software) and give it a try. Any chance you want to reveal the hidden gems in the patch? All I know of is the Door Open warning light on the EIACS, you said there were three?Be much appreciated.Rob.
November 21, 200223 yr I can tell you that the opening APU inlet is one of them. The other, not sure what it is, but I'm going over the beast with a fine toothed comb now looking for it.Regards,Dan Zollnerhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg
November 22, 200223 yr So far, this is what I know....1 - The APU inlet door opens and closes with the APU being on or off.1(:( - The APU will provide power faster ...it lights up at about 80% rather than providing power at 97%.2 - Shift-E lights up an EIACS message.3 - ????? The hidden gem. Will we ever find it?Help.Rob.
November 22, 200223 yr Just guessing on this one, but..could it be a 'door closing simulation being initiated upon the activation of the rotating beacon switch or some other switching procedure that would then get rid of the 'Eicas' msg. At this time, it would then be 'safe' to commence the engine start functions.Just a wild guess...Regards,
November 22, 200223 yr None.I did two test hops last night...the only 'issue' I observe is that the APU starts up a little quickly compared to before.I am not sure what else the patch does, but I wish the boys at the team formerly known as PIC would have told us about these hidden gems ;-) The third gem is still a mystery to everyone. It just keeps getting better....and with Lee, et al on the TCAS, the future is getting brighter for the old bird.Rob.
November 24, 200223 yr "1(:( - The APU will provide power faster ...it lights up at about 80% rather than providing power at 97%."This seems strange.... 97% sounds about right (at least for a Garrett APU). 95% is the trigger point for electrics and pneumatics.Cheers.Ian.
November 24, 200223 yr I am not sure if the Thrust reversers EICAS display was the same before the patch: now when activating the thrust reversers, EICAS will show "REV" in amber while the reversers are "in transit", and after a second will become green, when reversers are fully deployed. This is just like the real beast.Correct me if I'm wrong and it is not a patch related feature (it is not in the manual anyway).Ilan
November 27, 200223 yr Well, I can confirm that with the 3rd Party Hardware patch entry doors does, in fact, open.Took a spin in an empty bird and a test pilot and opened the door at FL350. We're happy to say that at least in my bird, the packs were able to provide sufficent power to keep us from getting the dreadded CABIN ALTITUDE alarm when open too ;)Gotta love this aircraft :) I know I do.Well worth it.Take care!P
