December 2, 200223 yr Hey guys,Thought you might find these interesting....We were enroute yesterday from KDTW to KMCO (Detroit to Orlando). Just south of VXV VOR (Knoxville, TN), we "joined up" on this Delta 757 also enroute to KMCO. We were at FL390, he at FL370...within a few minutes, he was ordered to reduce to Mach .76 to follow a Cessna Citation, then ATL Center descended him to FL 350. We stayed at FL390 at M.80, zoomed past him, and ended up beating him to the airport. :)http://images.andale.com/f2/109/127/632235...98_DAL757_1.jpgRememeber the "Top Gun" line? "To close for missiles...switching to guns!" Hehe...http://images.andale.com/f2/109/127/632235...16_DAL757_3.jpgI had to get out of my seat to give you guys "the big picture".http://images.andale.com/f2/109/127/632235...76_DAL757_2.jpgNice looking bird, eh?http://images.andale.com/f2/109/127/632235...08_DAL757_4.jpg"Hey Delta, that red streak above you is an NWA jet beating you to Orlando!" Inter-airline rivalry? Nah...later,BBall----------------------Capt. William "BBall" BallBoeing 757, Northwest AirlinesSenior Editorwww.frugalsworld.com
December 2, 200223 yr Should've seized the opportunity to evacuate the lavratory "holds" as you passed overhead :)Nice shots.J
December 2, 200223 yr If you could get the view of picture 1 with the lighting of picture 2 I would be a happy man Captian! Oh and higher Res lol. Best Wishes, Randy Randy J Smith
December 2, 200223 yr Then tilt it about 1 to 1.5 degrees to the left.. and... You get the PIC panel hihihihi....Geee... this bird can do M80 at FL390 with about 70% N1 if I'm making the upper EICAS correctly! Do your 757s come with the RR or PW engines?Hey, you 757 designers out there... DID YOU READ THAT???? :-) :-) :-)Thanks Captain for sharing your 'office space' with us!...Keep 'em comming ! :-)Fly Safe,George DorkofikisAthens, Greece
December 2, 200223 yr WOW! Awesome cool shots there BBall!!! I was waiting for your next round of real world Pics!!-:) -:), I love them, and passing that Delta plane was cool!! Too bad you could not dump something on his window while passing him by! LOL, Oh well keep the great Pics coming, i really enjoy them! MIKE-:)
December 2, 200223 yr BBall, Great looking pics, btw I see that the review never got up over the weekend I know Frugal is very busy.I was hoping you could email me a copy?It will make great reading on my 767 flight to New Orleans Saturday morning, sorry its a Delta flight.I live in KJAX and the only way there is through KATL which btw you have to go through to get to Heaven LOL. Thanks, Jeff Gerbert [email protected]
December 2, 200223 yr Just noticed the standby altimeter is hardly off the real altitude, in most 767s it's off a lot.
December 3, 200223 yr Thanks guys,Jase and HV,I'm afraid if we had the ability to spew lav waste whenever we pleased, you'd probably see more than the opposition teams windshields painted....LOL. (Maybe a few executive's roofs at contract time?)Randy,I'll see what I can do....I'll use the flash (like I did in pic2) and see what it gives me. I'm afraid it'll "wash out" the CRT displays, so it may not work. Oh, and I'll read my camera manual and see if I can up the res.George,We have the Pratt and Whitney 2037s on the -200, and the 2040s on the -300 machines. We were pretty "light" (although all the seats were filled), and I actually speed intervened to M.82 to catch him....:), then closed the window and let VNAV have the speed back (flight planned at M.795).Jeffg,Sorry my friend, but that would open a barn door that I choose not to deal with (I hope you understand). I'm sure Mark will have it up soon.SF,We've recently upgraded our systems to "tighten up" our altimeters as it were. We routinely now operate in RVSM airspace (Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums....basically since April, in Canadian Domestic airspace north of 57 degrees N latitude [and some international airpsace], ATC can reduce the vertical separation to 1000' between FL290 and FL410 from the usual 2000'). The max differences between the Capt. and F/O alitimeters is + or - 25' at sea level (slightly more at higher field elevations). We used to routinely see the 100' or so altimeter differences between the Capt and SB altimeters, but not anymore. BTW, I was coming back from PANC (Anchorage) last spring right after we started flying in the RVSM airspace, and had a 747-400 fly 1000' above me, on our track, going in the opposite direction....HOLY CRAP...that's the definition of BIG! At about a mile away, I could swear that he filled the windshield...certainly got my attention.CP,Would love to see some of your work pics....wait, I guess that depends on what you do for a living. (I hope you're not a proctologist :D).later,BBall-------------------Capt. William "BBall" BallBoeing 757, Northwest AirlinesSenior Editorwww.frugalsworld.com
