As usual they are great shoots..You have inspired me to get a digital camera for work and post some of our exciting trips. FO on the beautiful 757/767..

Hey guys,Yep Rob, sometime in the spring, we'll be holding our first A330 ground school, and yours truly has put in the bid to fly it. I've been itching to get back across the pond (to find my big butt sitting at a sidewalk cafe in Paris, sippin' on a cold brewski). Also, hooking up with some close friends in the U.K. and Germany will be a nice perk. I flew international on the DC-10 (with another poster here...ret. Capt. Ed Weber, aka Tallpilot :)) back in the early '90s, and have wanted to get back for awhile (just not on the "aging" DC-10). Although I've never flown an Airbus product, it'll be a rather sad day when I say goodbye to the Boeing.Joseph,Can't wait to see your pics. I've been carrying a camera for years; basically for two reasons. First and foremost, to capture those images that still make me say...."and they pay me to do this?"...you know what I'm talking about. And secondly, I flew with a 747 Capt. years ago that said his camera saved his a** once when I catering truck driver tried to deny that he hit his wing. This Capt. took his trusty camera out on the ramp, took pics of the dented wing, pics of the "matching" dent in the catering truck and handed them to the Chief Pilot. Not that they were going to try and "hang him", but I guess it's never a bad thing to have "visual evidence" to prove your case, eh?Take care all,BBall--------------------Capt. William "BBall" BallBoeing 757, Northwest AirlinesSenior Editorwww.Frugalsworld.com

hey William, okay i'm gonna say it here, DON'T SHOOT ME...glad you're gonna fly the airbus, you'll like it alot, i hope. It's very sophomophisticated and it's a piece of true european quality. If you ever were to get in ebbr, let me know, in 3 years i'll be a fully skilled ATP aswell ;)CheersPS: go 767, but not Boeing ;) gimme airbus =)(but i like all boeings aswell) (need to be a bit patriotic)

OK Lenny, I can handle the patirotic point of view. It's those closet Bussers that I can't deal with. They lurk all about :-bluegrab

Cap'n BBall,I am very sad to hear about your decision to go to the Scarebus. My condolences.Perhaps if Northwest used 757's on some of it's pond hops you would not have to be re-trained...at great expense to the airline and your personal time (which the aircraft IS capable of with modifications as you know). I will write a letter to NWA insisting they remove their head from their collective rectums and stick with Boeing. Maybe if some of the big-wigs at NWA were not getting such huge kick-backs from Airbus, you would be getting trained on a B767 or B777.I am sure my letter will turn things around and you will be able to stay with Boeing for those pond hops. I flew on a 757 several times over the pond, nice little jet, a lot less rattling plastic pieces than those Airbuses ;-) I am flying on an A330-300 this weekend CYYZ-EGLL, I'll take some shots with my new digital camera and post here.Tally Ho.Rob.

Eh, a new digital camera. Glad I got bandwidth! LOL Can't wait to see your shots and have a good vacation if I miss you on line before the departure.

Hi Mikey,Yep, just in time, a digital camera. I'll be taking a few shots of the Scarebus flight on Sunday night..I am told I will be getting upgraded to 1st class by my buddy at ACA...if so, I have something special to ask my girlfreind en-route to the homeland...somewhere around sunrise, coast of Ireland, I'll pop the question while sipping on a Champagne breakfast at FL390 (assuming the scarebus is able to get that high ;-)(...and, no, I am NOT talking about a mile high club quesiton, I am talking about THE question, so wish me luck!)I'll be on tonight for a couple hours, then hockey, Fri night maybe around 0600z, then Sat night around 0300z(Sun) for a couple hours. I will be looking at the NATracks for Sunday, see if I can figure out what's likely to be the route for Sunday night.Bye for now,Rob.

>Perhaps if Northwest used 757's on some of it's pond hops >you would not have to be re-trained at great expense to the airline and your personal time As one who flies for a living (regretably, not as a pilot, my job just involves a lot of travel), I'm glad to hear NWA is moving to A330's. I can't imagine flying transatlantic on a narrowbody. Ugh.And I can't imagine it would be cheaper to maintain ETOPS certification on the 757s, but maybe.Oh, and those pics look familiar. It's been a wierd week here in Seattle. Lots of rain, and now lots of wind. Good times...Jon (KSEA)

Great Pics as always Capt. I bought a digital camera just so I could get some shots like you and a lot of the others show. Of course, mine would only come from about 5000'.I brought my camera along with me today, but I didn't have the nerve to ask the examiner to take my picture while I was on the approach. He was busy evaluating my performance as it was an instrument checkride (passed, BTW). Now I can fly in some of that liquid sunshine. ;-) However, I'm keeping my minimums pretty high for now. No need to fly into the heart of a hurricane just because my certificate says I can. I only plan on using it to bust through benign cloud layers until I get a bit more experience.Keep up the great shots. I envy your job.

... Ummm, Rob old friend a tip for you: BEFORE YOU POP THE QUESTION... go for the mile high club thingy, just in case.

To be honest it is still my dream to fly the heavy(US) metal around the globe, so to the question 'do i WANT to fly a 767' i'd say: YES YES YES YES YES PLEASE!But seen the current situation i'm not put in that place as i REAALLLY won't have the choice(unfortunately) of which aircraft i will fly. If i get a job ,i'll be very happy. In days like these, one has to 'pour water in the whine'(dunno the expression in anglo) to achieve dreams, and for me that is including Airbus in my dream. And i just cannot say an airbus is a bad airplane as it certainly is not...you see it's actually, for me, a very complicated matter and if i continue rattling on about it I think i'll have a serious breakdown one of these days To put it in CLEAR words: I, me, moi, ich, ego, IK love BOTH airbus and Boeing. Even though at this time skies are cloudy for Boeing i sure hope they make it through these difficult times, especially for them.(Sonic Cruiser project is overrated and the updating of a cockpit isn't very innovative(NG series, i can really talk for hours about the bad points of the 737NG compared to the EFIS 737's... but i won't, and i got reason )) So you see, i'm in both camps, i'm the Airbus Ambassador in the Boeing camp i guess(as i AM european ;))There you have it, i finally(after many months of hiding my secret ) put it out in the open. But as i said before, i sure hope Sobelair keeps their 767's for a while and(very unlikely) i get offered a job there, if not a Seneca taxi EBAW-EHRD will be fine aswell, as long as it's up in the sky and 'trying to' fly ;)Cheers

You envy his job, I envy you. ;-) :-) Can't wait to get my PPL/IR/CPL etc etc and the list goes on and on. :-(

"I am talking about THE question"LOL, the whole PIC community knows about and she has no idea.I friend of mine contends it's crazy to get married. Instead he says, just find some gal every few years, do it with her a few times, by her a house, and say so long. It
