Brian,Actually no. As you probably already know, a pilot's "seniority number" determines everything he/she can do at that particular airline. From which aircraft they can fly, to the routes on whatever aircraft they're flying, to their days off, and even when they'll be having their vacation days.Presently, my sen # is 1327 out of apx. 6000 pilots (several hundred on furlough)....so I can pretty much fly anything I desire. Most of my "new hire" classmates (circa 1983) are flying Captain on one of the widebodies (DC-10, B747-200 or B747-400), but I've always been a "quality of life" bidder. In other words, I would rather not be "junior" (read flying weekends, holidays, etc) on one of the bigger jets, but be fairly senior on a racehorse like the -757. We presently have two B757 bases...Minneapolis/St. Paul and Detroit, and of the 2, KMSP is a loaded with a bit more senior dudes. I "sit" in just about the middle of the couple of hundred B757 Captains here in MSP...so I usually fly when I want, and where I want. When we do start flying the A330, my seniority number will allow me to remain in the left seat, and although it's extremely hard to predict how people will bid a new airplane, I should settle somewhere in the middle of that pack when it's all said and done.Looking forward to the "Airbus experience"....but, again, it'll be a sad day when I say goodbye to the "seven-five".take care all, and have a safe New Year,BBall------------------------Capt.
