January 21, 200323 yr Ah well, no news just yet, still fine tuning as I wait for the final release of the iFDG model! Iz
January 22, 200323 yr Looking forward to it so much Iz!!!!!!!!!!!!! This 757 will rule the virtual skies I think. It is just so cool to have a real 757 pilot like you involved with the project. Just can't get any more real than that. Thanks for all of your hard work.
January 25, 200323 yr This is a very exciting prospect, please let us know when the files are released.
January 29, 200323 yr Any more news yet Iz? I have my IFDG Britannia 757 ready to go... just needs your airfile!! Let us know if you can.Cheers.
January 29, 200323 yr >>Plus, she integrates perfectly into 767PIC, although fuel flow >>figures by the FMC are incorrect, it just goes with the territory. >>Entering ZFW = 130t (metric) will give you spot on performance >>figures, VNAV data and ref speeds.Sorry but what is 130t (metric) in lbs? I always enter 179.0 for the ZFW for PIC757 ops? Eric
January 29, 200323 yr That would be 130 X 2,2 = 286 tonnes, but this is actually only for the takeoff speeds, for the descent, 115t would be better.Anyways, due to some high altitude instability at 4X sim rate, I'm recreating the whole .air file from scratch (still waiting for the new ifdg release anyway).Iz
January 29, 200323 yr Speaking as President of Icelandair Virtual, we are really looking forward to trying out this airfile and it will sure be recommended to all our pilots. We have been integrating the 767PIC into our fleet of 757's only, since the release date, but of course it has never performed like the real thing. So this will be very exciting to try. Thanks for the hard work Iz.Iceair

February 1, 200323 yr Hi Iz,Just curious to know. Wouldn't entering unrealistic weights into the fmc give false and very high fuel flow results for the 757?. I have been working on a FDE for the ifdg 757 and PIC panel myself and it always seems to be a trade off of accurate and inaccurate information from the fmc. The PIC fmc was created with the 767-300 in mind and with that said the lighter 757 numbers will cause false info to be reported one way or the other. When I enter the weight of a 767-300, I get great vref data, but then my fuel flow and management is way off and the same is to be said if I enter the correct weight for the 757-200, but in the reverse. my vrefs are way too low, but my fuel management is far more realistic.Anyway just food for thought.Regards,Van Latendresse,YeoDesigns Panel/FDE Designer
February 2, 200323 yr Indeed, Van, there's simply no way around that beside hacking the 767PIC FMC and I, for one don't have the need or time (or capability :) ) to do that. Surely, top of climb calculations and other VNAV calculations will be off no matter what. Even with the right takeoff speeds, the 757 climbs faster than the 767, with the same relative weight (relative to MTOW). The 757 has a different drag profile than the 767. So my goal for this FDE is simply accurate performance in all phases of flight, without any regard for 767PIC. Then making sure that it performs well with the 767PIC autopilot, thrust modes and doesn't set off warnings and EICAS messages. That's it. Greetings,Iz
February 2, 200323 yr OOOK sry bout that link then saw an improved fde for IFDG saying some of the same characteristics and thought it was the same file. Thanks a ton for posting my mistake, truly sorry bout all the confusion.
