PIC767 Race across the pond results

Featured Replies

I can assure you, CYUL corrected several pilots who checked in -inside- of CYUL space at FL370 or FL410. There was also at least 2 pilots who requested FL370 while they were westbound over CYUL space...so, yes, there were pilots corrected as I said. Flying the 767 for extended periods of time at Mach 84 is "as relaisitc" as flying it at Mach 86 for an extended period of time...thats why I implied they are "the same"."...-IMHO" - Rob,thats fine-you are entitled to your opinion. Next time how about you state that its your opinion"**Here is the full quote again for you***"- Flying a 767 over the pond at Mach 84 is a "game" IMHO...anyone flying at that speed was certainly not "simulating" any real world operations, hence it became a "game"...but as you say it was a race, not real world ...for BAW pilots."Definition for you my learned comrade: "IMHO" = IN MY HUMBLE OPINION ..it's a common acronism used on chat forums...but I am sure you knew that, ...right. I was expressing my opinion and only that."Rob,let me just point out, that as I read through your post,point-by-point it is becoming increasingly obvious that because I chose to Fly at a speed greater than the "standard opaeration cruise speed"-you are stereotyping all BAV pilots...?"There were a group of BAW pilots flying together all enjoying speeds 60+ knots greater than mine and others who were in the same weather area. I was not the only pilot to make this observation...and that's all it was...an observation that for some reason, the group of BAW pilots flying together all enjoyed 60kt+ speed advantage.I can hear the judges report now..."It was an anabolic steroid"."well thats great! So this gives you the Right to criticise me now? You use the whole results thing as your reason for your postings but let me re-itterate for the 3rd time rob that I never posted any results or times..."...and I think I have expressed an opinion that your results would be lack validity...so no point posting them...IMHO.Rob.hehe ;-)

Rob, It seems we're going around in circles So I'm just gonna leave it.One thing I will point out however is that I,a BAW pilot was using ACTIVESKY WXRE and I'm sure I did avail of strong tailwinds but also of equally as strong Head winds for a good portion of the Journey...I just give up the arrogance of all this amazes me-it really does. The above directed at a certain minority..Let me make that clearer-I'm talking about you RobAnd no lets not turn this into an insult throwing post. Anyone disagree with me-read through the above posts at least twice...then get back to me.A shame really, yesterdays flight was so enjoyable, and to have this debate going on really is an anti-climax...RegardsJohnhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk 650Hours ;)P 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg

I will not buy this record, it is scratched.

My intention was not to be arrogant. If my words came accross as such, I apologise. If you had tailwinds anywhere between 53-57 north for any portion share of the flight, then maybe ActiveSky is the problem. I know some tail winds were to be found east of 50W above 60N. I flew within 50nm of your group from Labrador onwards at about the same lattitude..but your speeds were much better.I intended to echo the comments from other pilots that the BAW group were not "playing fair"...I think I made that point. Perhaps we are all wrong then. You threw the first insult by calling me, and specifically me, arrogant. Please clearly quote back to me what you perceive as arrogant from my statements so I may clear the matter up for you.Thank you.Rob.

Yet if you play it backwards you will hear Rob saying - " (post your ideas about waht he says, it'll make this post much more comfortable)

Ok Rob, In general-you're whole argument has been about-you followed the real world operating procedures and I didnt follow 1 procedure-(granted and important one) so you therefore have the right to criticise me. Despite the fact that: a) This was for FUN :( A small portion of people who participated in the event actually took the racing part serious enough to post their times...And yet you still belittle All BAV pilots for the simple fact they got better winds than you did. What do you think they did Rob-cheated? Why? After all this thing was for Fun.Maybe I shouldnt have insulted you by calling you arrogant but that is the tone I'm interpreting from this petty conversation. As Ian said-this is a broken record by now. Time Out.Event was a success. Re:PIC Race across the pond

I'd like to congratulate you Mark on what otherwise was a tip top flight. Shame about your PC acting up.

Now you have deemed our conversation as "petty"...and you are giving up on me because I have an arrogant tone....hmmmI never -seriously- suggested anyone was cheating...I was pointing out the inconsistencies.I am about done with this one. The only point I wanted to make was that there appeared to be a group of pilots using BAW call signs flying very near me (according to servinfo)...that -as a group- had better speeds for various reasons related to the operation of their aircraft and/or their weather information. I also reiterate that this observation was noted by other pilots. There, I can't be any less arrogant than that. The end.--------------Mr. McGrath - great show - sorry about the PC blowing up on ya...hope to see you around EGPF some time.Rob.

Isn't today a holiday for you "blokes?" Lets good grab a pint.

Thanks Rob.My Vatsim accumulated time should start to increase fairly soon. I have found it so much easier flying online since I bought myself a Plantronics Headset. Much better than text. PC problems were sorted pretty easily. Disabled all the non essential stuff using MSCONFIG that normally run at startup. This seemed to solve the problem.

If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?I...I am no longer infected.

Hmmmmmmm, effect of leaving yaw dampers on too long?Or have you been ponskeying your ponderosa again?

I don't have a horse in this race, but I will toss 2p in.When I was working as a flt dispatcher for TWA, we normally flt planned the B767-300 from LLBG to KJFK at M.83 due to crew duty time regulations (12hrs max for 3 pilots, >12hr need 4 pilots), flt was normally about 11:30 enrte. It was not really normal, on the other non-critical flts M.80 was normal.Marc
