May 9, 200323 yr 1. what's the use of the yaw dumper on an aircraft. and is there a time when it's not supposed to be turned on, like i usally have turned off during taxi, and take off and also approach, and landing because it allows me to steer the nose wheel, and also i can use ruuder control during a crosswind landing.2. About the TCAS for the 767PIC. first of all it's a great invention it made flying the 767PIC a lot informative and easy. what's the range on the TCAS itself is it 20-40 or more and can be adjusted.3. This is no a question but everybody is welcome to give me some feedbacks on it. i own the DF737, PSSA320, PSS777,747, DF Archer CS727 but most of those aircraft i don't really use some of them i don't really know how to operate like the PSS320 and the CS727 becaue i do not want to fly anything other then the 767PIC. am i the only one. May 9, 200323 yr You need to ask D Shutt. What he doesn't know about the yaw dumper isn't worth knowing. Come to think of it, what he knows isn't worth knowing either.:-lol - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
May 9, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi Adib,Regarding the yaw damper:Use:a) To eliminate "dutch rolls" (a phenomenon when the aircraft oscillates over its longitudinal axis.:( "Auto coordination", the yaw damper will move the rudder through turns so that you have a "clean" turn and to make sure it is coordinated. In other words: you don't need manual rudder input during turns as on smaller aircraft. The yaw damper should always be on, at least during normal operation. The pilot can always override the yaw damper, for example during a crosswind takeoff/landing or single engine operations. The yaw dampers need input from the IRS (inertial reference system) to be able to operate correctly aswell as hydraulic pressure (otherwise it couldn't turn the rudder :-) )Unfortunately, MS only simulated the Yaw Damper found on small aircraft: There the yaw damper also limits rudder deflection and has to be turned off for landing/takeoff etc. So the yaw damper you see in 767PIC is not realistic at all. The you have to disable the YD to be able to perform crosswind takeoffs/landings or you have to set the rudder effectiveness to an extremely high setting (around 24) but don't dare touch the rudder if you YD fails as you'll perform maneuvers that exceed the capabilities of the Extra 300 ;-)Hope this helped,Mark Mark Foti Author of aviaworx - https://www.aviaworx.com
May 9, 200323 yr With rudder_effectiveness at 24.0, I find it easy to handle most crosswind t/o or landings with no problems, Yaw Dampers on...MSFS2k2-"Realism"..."Auto-coordination" should be set to OFF...recycle the PIC767 yaw dampers off/on after you turn autocoordination off in MSFS2k2...and make sure FSUIPC is the latest with control spike elimination set on. D Shutt does know an awful lot about Yaw Dampers...maybe he can chime in here...or maybe he is upset about the Cannuks losing it last night..pineing (sp?) for the fjords? I would have watched but Murf told me the game was not on until tomorrow night.Flying out of KRDU tonight about 1900 EST...continuing the NHL Losers tour. KRDU - KATL - (Nashville) - KTPA - KMIA - KPIT - KLGA - KBOS - CYUL. Over the weekend, will work in the west coast...CYUL-CYEG-CYYC-CYVR-KLAX-KPHX...
May 9, 200323 yr Commercial Member Yaw damper is on? Ja ja, track 29.CVA Multi on May 14 at 530PDT departs KLAX/KSAN for KLAS, then KLAS for KOAK/KSFO, then KSFO/KOAK for KLAX.As for my Canucks... there's always 10 years from now!DS CVA3339 / UKD149http://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg The SUPPORT FORUM for Level-D Simulations products: http://www.leveldsim.com/forums
