Just wondering if you all use the PIC model, or another... if you use another one what is it and why?Kevin

I suppose you're talking about the exterior model? I use both, that is, the default model and the Posky (Open Sky) exterior model(s) merged with PIC. The reason is clear, the Posky is GMAX, should I say more? Oh yeah almost forgot, we have to use something while we are waiting for Version 2 of PIC hehe. No really I hope for it but time will tell.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. I always thought Carew was a baseball player - heh.POSKY V3 all the way. A very sweet model for the greatest aircraft available in the sim world.

Kevin,I use the POSKY 676-300v3 model also. I would guess that many of us that hard core PICers use the POSKY models, they are vastly superior than the default exterior models that Wilco did. Plus the POSKY models are GMAX, much better on the frames than the poly stupid work that Wilco did.Bob Johnson

Given that GMAX wasn't even an option when the PIC team produced the PIC767, I can't fault the stock PIC exterior model as "poly stupid". The PIC767 was an early FS2000 add-on which has weathered the changes in FS versions way better than most. Add the POSKY v3 GMAX visual model merged with it, and the PIC767 still reigns as one of the add-on heavyweights.Wilco was just the publisher...Bob

Well you are right to a point of course, but the truth is that the model even for it's time was not the highest quality unlike the rest of the package. The windows are all out of wack and the paint around the nose was crooked on a few. There are many non Gmax models about that are nice. I would not call it *stupid* in any sence of the word, just not great. But you know what, I really don't care or have cared very much because I do not fly from the spot view![h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. i don't know but at it's time, the PIC model was good, except for the texturing that in the initial release(and i think aswell in all boxed versions) had a problem with the oversized window textures. But the model was imho quite good. It was heavy, very heavy actually but as we were learning on flying this pretty, for me at least, the exterior was not a real big deal. I spent 99% of the time in the pit trying out new thingies with the FMC, seeing what a failure of all hydraulics would do with no pilot flying the plane ;)...to be honest, i found the model to be good 'nuf for that time(remember, FS2K eh, no dynamic lighting(=NOT shine))

Hi Guys,When I said that the original PIC 767 exterior model was poly stupid, that was a tounge in cheek expression about how poorly it was done. I was on the beta test for Wilco on the PIC project. We (the entire beta test team) often expressed to Wilco that the external model was NOT good, someone said that Wilco was just the publisher, that is true and false. Some of you may not know this, the "WELP" team had NOTHING to do with the external model other than complain like us beta testers. Wilco had their designers work on the exterior model, and this is ONLY about the external textures, not the mdl file or the aircraft cfg.At the time of the development of PIC767 Project Open Sky was just starting and they had done a very good model NOT GMAX, since this was FS2000 days. Wilco did do several re-designs on the exterior model, but it was way too high in the poly count for the textures, which so many have complained about poor frame rates in exterior view.Like you, I am a VERY hardcore simmer. I too fly 98% of the time from the cockpit. But there are occations when I like to look at the exterior on the ground and in the air. I fly the United Airlines 767-300ER almost a 100 hours per month. I still get a thrill watching it fly over the Rocky Mountains where I live from BOTH the cockpit and from the exterior view. The POSKY 767-300 GMAX exterior model merged with the PIC panel and cfg is just superior to anything currently in the MSFS world IMHO. Bob JohnsonDenver
