PIC 767 in smaller aircraft

Featured Replies

Now I know I am going to get slated for telling you all this but here goes

Forgot to mention, I have tried it with and without[Autopilot]use_no_default_bank=1 added to aircraft.cfg to eliminate the persistent "wings level" condition that prevents manual turns when the autopilot is on, but it maked no differance.Graham

Hi Graham, the PIC panel is entirely custom-programmed and will operate to highest level of realism with an appropriate aircraft - i.e. a Boeing 767. As the panel is faithfully simulating the vast majority of that particular aircraft's functions, it will be exceedingly difficult to match it with any aircraft that doesn't meet those exact specifications - let alone something as different as an ERJ.As the panel is custom-programmed, you will find that the [autopilot] section in the aircraft.cfg reads 'autopilot_available=0' Therefore, you will not be able to change the A/P behaviour, and even if you could, your flight experience is likely to be less than pleasant, as the FMC will have no way of coping with the severely reduced weights, let alone simulating any system dependencies. As far as flying the ERJ goes - have you tried Bill Grabowski's great panel? It's freeware, very well designed and what makes the ERJ my first choice for flying short-hauls in a jet.Cheers,Gosta.

Thanks Gosta for the reply.Yeah I actually have Bill's superb panel and it is my second choice next to PIC767 but I really miss the FMS functions that come with PIC.Thanks againGraham

If your flying the PIC panel with autopilot on, you ARE going to have automated lateral navigation. You will be in HDG HOLD, HDG SEL, or LNAV. No options other than those with the autopilot turned on. That is the way it is.Now you might want to consult Daryl S. as he is reportedly able to use the PIC panel with a Cessna 152 and has been working on compatibility with his 1992 Plymouth Voyger, with a blue pealing paint job as I remember. But he will have to tell that story.Just kidding a bit with you there Graham (and DS), if you like the panel and want to put it in a RJ, that's cool with me. Someday when I have time to fool around with it, I want to creat a screen saver with floating pop-up FMC screens, pedistal views, overhead panel, main panel, landing views, and a couple of Steve Dra's repaints. I think that would be top shelf stuff for a PIC Head.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I must have stupidly forgotten having no automated lateral control with AP selected, always thought you could turn off HDG and LNAV and fly heading with yoke. Silly me!Thanks againGraham

And that blow-up doll shows up in the right hand seat whenever the autopilot is engaged? ;)
