June 23, 200322 yr I like the rest of the minions here will rush out at first opportunity and contribute to Bill's retirement fund by purchasing FS2004. But lets look at it in reality - if you like 767 Pic, FS2004 offers you nothing to replace it - a bunch of old aircraft and some new choppers that some have already been done before anyway (DC3 - Robinson22 to name a few). Ok the clouds might be nicer and a few of the stock standard airports better (mostly in the US I see) and not up to the standard of some freeware and payware that I have for FS2002. I see no reason to remove FS2002 from my PC and at the moment I fail to see how FS2004 is going to improve flying for the "Big Jet" enthusiast.
June 23, 200322 yr Commercial Member Umm, the PMDG 737NG will be fully FS2004 compliant, (looks to have more features than PIC even) and if we're lucky Wade and team will make us a new PIC like he said they were thinking about doing... June 23, 200322 yr Well I will be keeping my fingers, legs, arms, and eyes crossed. Never give up. Here that Wade?Mike
June 24, 200322 yr RogerRoger,No doubt about it. . .FS2004 offers nothing for 767PIC users. At least until there is a patch offered by the 767PIC developers. And, a patch needs to be released soon or else the PMDG 737NG will quickly take over as THE FS airline simulator. The bottom line is that FS2004 looks good. The screenshots show a new level of weather realism. . .something that sim experts always want. Add the potential for better frame rates with existing hardware, better WX realism, better or enhanced sceneries, and the addition of programs like the 737NG and FS2004 quickly becomes a "must have," for any hardcore sim pilot. There is no question I will buy FS2004 as soon as it comes out. However, my HD is large enough to accomodate BOTH FS2002 and FS2004. I plan to run FS2004 for ALL my GA simming needs with the exception of airline flying with 767PIC. That is. . .at least until PMDG 737NG comes out. Then, all bets are off for 767PIC.One last item. . .news of an "official," update to 767PIC from the developers would do wonders for the 767PIC faithfull. Unfortunately, the developer's last words here offered little encouragement for a new version under FS2004. As such is apparently the case, maybe we should all start planning on some 737 action for our airline simming needs.
June 24, 200322 yr >One last item. . .news of an "official," update to 767PIC from>the developers would do wonders for the 767PIC faithfull. I agree, that would do wonders.
June 24, 200322 yr Patch or no patch, I love the 767 and I am baseing my home cockpit off it. So I will be flying it either in '02 or '04 the later being the prefered choice, but if not then I am still flying.Brian
June 24, 200322 yr Well we don't know for sure what Wade and team are up to, but knowing them they *Might* be beta as we speak and not know it! PMDG's 737 is a wonderful aircraft, I just wish you guys could see some pics I have taken doing some intense flying. We should be ready for release pics very soon, ****maybe**** next week if all goes good. Now there are some things that will have to wait untill the 800-900 BBJ come out shortly after the the 600-700 like TCAS etc. Don't let anyone fool you, the 600-700 holds it's own very well. It's the only other aircraft that *feels* like a pic 767 quality aircraft that I have flown......I love PIC and will keep FS 2002 just for it. It's just that nice to fly.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. June 24, 200322 yr " I just wish you guys could see some pics I have taken doing some intense flying"That would be a good thing to see. The shots on their website show a very dull, flat, and FS default looking panel, the bitmap that is.Mike
June 25, 200322 yr Hi Mike,>The shots on their website show a very dull, flat, and FS default looking panel, the bitmap that is.:).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
June 25, 200322 yr I am definitely awaiting the 737NG as well, but all my medium/long haul flying will still be done with 767 PIC.
June 25, 200322 yr Hey Mike, that's one reason why you have not seen any new pics of the panels because they are being developed *in process*, I find the main panel to be very much like PIC's main panel. We have the choice between, main panel, a zoomed main panel, an approach panel and landing panel. The PFDs are incredible, smooth as silk. This bird shines in it's FMS though. The autopilot won't dissapoint you, and trust me, I know you are one for perfection ;)[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smith[/h5][h6]Are You Ready For The Next Great one?
