New sound package coming soon

Featured Replies

Hi,I announced about a year ago I would be doing a sound package, and since then I hadn't really done much because ATPL commitments. However, I have come across the motivation to be able to finish what I started and a new 767/757 sound package is on it's way. After spending loads of brass on DVD's and Vids on flight decks of the 76/75 I have tweaked, tweaked and tweaked the config and sound files until i couldn't tweak anymore and I have what I think is an almost perfect rendition. I have had the chance to also visit a few flight decks in my past, and based on what I can remember, my sound package fits my memories.Anyway, features:- Let's get this out the way, it's a FLIGHT DECK sound package, so if you don't like the sound environment on the flight deck, don't bother complaining. If you like those loud drilling engines, then stick with that you've got because this, is a realistic package.- On engine start, packs quitely drain out to leave the whining electronics.- After both engines started, packs come back and provide you with nice air!- Continous electronics sound (only heard when engines off)- Realistic engine sounds. Here the engines whine to max power on takeoff...a bit in the climb, and then never again until landing!- Realistic wind sounds.- Realistic flap sounds (yes, realistic, as in "click", the FO just selected the flaps....no stupid cabin whining actuator sounds).- When shutting down engines, packs go quieter, and you can again here electronics.I am trying my hardest to get a good rendition of reverse thrust, as you can here this quite clearly in the real flight deck, but again, it's not loud. one thing I wouldlike to have is a realistic ground roll effect, where the runway/taxiway lighting "humps" the nosewheel and the cabin rattles (saying that, it only happens when your on that centreline ;)).Anyway, release date...soon, maybe a week or so. I am looking for 2 beta testers, who are in the know of real flight deck sounds.Cheers[br]obklogo.gif[/img]

That sound

Sounds great Ben i cant wait for it! What kind of size should we expect the file to be?Btw is development continuing with your dispatcher program?

Hey,No the dispatcher scripts were lost unfortunatley, so I had to discontinue my hopes and dreams for that! However, I have started on another project...more on that later ;)The file size...about 4mb. Though that does involve you downloading another sound package for some base sounds, which is 18mb I think.Cheers[br]obklogo.gif[/img]

OBK, I would Love to beta test for you. I am only familiar with the 767 RR fitted aircraft thought (???)[email protected]

Check your private email here OBK. Thanks

That sounds real nice, looking forward to it.Is your package made for the default fs2002 sound slider settings???At this moment I have the engine slider way down, which is annoying if I want to fly another plane occaisionally. I would like to put my sliders back to default.

HiUnfortunatley no, the sliders need adjusting, but not all the way down. I will be including a sample JPEG image of the sliders I have setup, but you have a good idea for the future.Cheers[br]obklogo.gif[/img]

WOW you have included all the features or details that I have been dreaming of!The avionics humm constantly in an aircraft, even in the rear cabin the humm of the electronics deafens the sound of the air conditioning system...Also the whine at take off is important, as the acceleration of the engines is always loud, even on the newer aircrafts...When are you planning your release?Boaz...

Hey Boaz,Release within a week should everything go smoothly with beta testing. The whine you talk about on takeoff is crutial ;) Give's that extra bit of realism and buzz. Though as you start accelerating, and as the engines develop intake momentum drag, the sound defens out and you get aircond + wind + gear wind, then gear up, its as if the engines are hardly there, only a little tiny whine you can here, then reduce to CLB2/1, and your on your way :) I'll announce the release on the board.Cheers[br]obklogo.gif[/img]

Then yet again we agree :)I must say that I am looking forward to your sound pack...Thanks.Boaz...

Ben,Very interesting. Are you including the first realistic gear sound ? Not ONE package has ever had the RIGHT sound for gear retraction. In 757/767 there's this DISTINCT groan, kind of like a "metal against metal" screeching (low pitched) sound that is heard exactly at the same time the gear doors close. This is a crucial sound and is still missing :(.Tero

hey teropa It sounds (and feels!) mighty fine on my surround sound subwoofer thingy! Some other good news:All sliders in the middle please! I've been working on it, and managed to get the sounds to mix nicely with all the sliders set in the middle. The PIC sounds may need turning down a bit though. That's the good news, here comes the bad. I'm having trouble coming to a comprimise between 767 and 757 sounds. I notice that at a low N1 in the 76, it hmmmmmmm's. Whilst in a 757 it has a little whistle type sound. It might delay the release should I release two seperate config files, as the two aircraft also sound slightly different at high N1. The 757, at a very high N1, has a distinct drilling sound, where as the 767 just whines away.I'll up date you all on the situation.NOTE! NOTE! NOTE! I'm having troubles perfecting the packs sound. I find that all the samples I am using sound too much like wind on the windows...if anyone has anything a little more "fresh" sound or "airy" sounding, please send it along! I'mworking hard on this one and it's delaying the release! Cheers[br]obklogo.gif[/img]

Well Ben,If not anything else, I'm dying to get my hands on the package because of the gear sound! Grreat!Terops. with Lee's TCAS upgrade coming up, this is STILL getting better... :)
