November 6, 200322 yr Hi Ansgar,If you are using the original aircraft cfg for the ifdg bird, then that should be fine. I would just make sure you have all appropriate PIC systems copied over if you haven't done so already. I really didn't change too much in the aircraft cfg other then lighting and contact point info. I also added the PIC flap section and set the Posky slat section scalars to zero (used for animation purposes only) as I've always had good experiences with just the PIC flap info for the flight model. I also noticed the extra flap sounds and I think it has to do with the slat extension time being so long (25 to 30 secs). I remember having the same problem with my PIC/ifdg763 merge and I believe I set the extension time to 5 secs and the problem disappeared. I'll have to report back on that issue after I try it out.P.S.Tero,If you find or have fuel flow (burn) data please send it to me and I'll adjust the FDE accordingly if it's needed. November 6, 200322 yr A quick note on flap sounds continuing after the flap indicator gauge has stopped. It seems I was correct about the slat extension times being too long as I modified the extension time and all is fine now. Just replace the numbers I have below and remember the slat info is for animation purposes only and has no affect on the flight model.[Flaps.1]type= 2span-outboard= 0.800extending-time= 3.000 new/20.000 originalsystem_type= 1damaging-speed= 250.000blowout-speed= 300.000lift_scalar= 0.000drag_scalar= 0.000pitch_scalar= 0.000flaps-position.0= 0.000, 0.000flaps-position.1= 10.000, 0.000[Flaps.2]type= 2span-outboard= 0.800extending-time= 5.000 new/30.000 originalsystem_type= 1damaging-speed= 250.000blowout-speed= 300.000lift_scalar= 0.000drag_scalar= 0.000pitch_scalar= 0.000flaps-position.0= 0.000, 0.000flaps-position.1= 5.000, 0.000flaps-position.2= 10.000, 0.000Regards,Van LatendresseYeodesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
November 6, 200322 yr Hi VanThanks for the email responses to my questions. I did a couple of more test flights of this merge, using your FDE and aircraft.cfg and have noticed that after touchdown with flaps 30 and reversers engaged and spoilers deployed (automatically when reversers engage), I get a Spoiler and flap warning horn, stays on till reversers disengaged. that never happened with the straight PIC or the PIC Posky 763 merge. has anyone else noticed this or is it just me ? Also, is the electrical section of your aircraft.cfg file from the original PIC.
November 6, 200322 yr Yes the electrical section is from the PIC aircraft cfg file.I can't say that I've noticed a flap and or spoiler warning after touch down when reversers engaged and spoilers deployed. I'll have to check that out on my next flight.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
November 6, 200322 yr Hi VanThanks for that quick response about the Warning on landing with reversers engaged. Looking fwd to your findings. One more question on the lighting section. did you install the posky effects files ( opensky_757_nav_yellow and opensky_757_strobe ) from the Posky effects.zip file thats available in the avsim library. I noticed you reference them in the aircraft.cfg file you sent to me. also you reference the opensky_nacelle_refl file in the lighting section, I don't see that file anywhere in any of the posky files I downloaded. I did put the effects files you sent to me in the effects folder of FS2002, but I haven't put any opensky effects files in there, am i supposed to?
November 6, 200322 yr Hi Garry,I get the same warning on touchdown. I think it has to do with the N1 values in reverse. The N1 gets to 80-85% N1. Wonder if what is happening is the bird thinks I am taking off again and flaps and slats are not in takeoff config. Should the reverser N1 not be closer to 60% N1?Just trying to help,Ben
November 6, 200322 yr Author In FS the reversers usually are around 60%, but in real life of course up high. So, if it's up high, it's a matter of a bug in PIC767, not in the FDE.Tero PPL(A)
November 6, 200322 yr I installed lighting to my preference and any other references that have back slashes ahead of them are the originals. I like to leave the original numbers in many cases after I modify a FDE for future reference, so i don't have to look them up at a later date if I decide to change something. On the reverse thrust and spolier alarm topic. I looked at the .air file quickly and noticed a number of -40 and the PIC .air file number is -20, so this could be the problem...a bit too much reverse thrust. I will try PIC's default of -20 and hopefully that will solve the problem and still stop the bird...lolRegards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
November 6, 200322 yr Ok I decreased the reverse thrust to -20 in the .air file to match PIC's and my N1's top out at 56.2% with full reverse thrust and the bird slows down just fine even with autobrakes set to 1 or 2. I found that a N1 reading over 75% triggers the flap and spoiler alarms. I have updated my FDE zips and for those that can edit the .air file, simply replace the table 313 (reverse thrust) info -40 with -20 and all should be well. For those that do not have the abilty or do not feel comfortable editing .air files, give me a shout and I'll resend my FDE's to you.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
November 6, 200322 yr VanThanks for sending me the modified air file. I was just wondering if you know where I can pic up a VSpeeds and Vref chart for the 757?Haven't had a chanch to try out the new air file yet but I'm sure it's good. The Bird really handles nice. Thanks again
November 6, 200322 yr The link below is a great site and has VSpeeds and Vrefs for the 757 with all variants of RR engines. Also there is much more info to look at.http://www.757.org.uk/Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
November 7, 200322 yr Hi VanThanks for the website address for the 757 info. I was wondering if you've done any testing for the rudder effectiveness. I have mine set to 0.4 and it still seems very sensitive to any inputs. Is there any correlation between the effectiveness setting and any values in the air file? I have now set it down to 0.3 but haven't tested it yet. will do some testing in about an hour from now. one thing I've noticed is that it is more sensitive when on Vatsim than when not on vatsim, don't know why that would make a difference but it does. probably a server thing. However it does seem pretty sensitive just in the sim and not online. Just curious as to what you think.
November 7, 200322 yr Hi GaryYou find performance manuals from Matt Zagoren at avsim or here:http://perso.wanadoo.fr/hsors/FS_Soft/acftdata.htmlfor VSpeeds Vref etc. That "Rudder" thing is not discussed to the end I think. It seems to be without effect to reduce the value in the cfg file. But one the other hand: These are realy fine airfiles for the 757 Van!
November 8, 200322 yr Hi Van,I'm interested as well in your modified FDE.Can you send it to this address [email protected] ?Many thanks in advance.Gian Paolo Codeb
November 10, 200322 yr Van,Can you send me your FDE to [email protected]?Thanx,Jeroen Regards, Jeroen The Netherlands
