February 1, 200422 yr Hi,Here are a couple of shots from my today's flight to Madeira-Funchal, with the 757.http://www.fsnordic.net/discussion/index.p...;threadid=20117It was my first visit there, and I think it went pretty well. I read some older messages from PIC-forum archives, when you had the event in Madeira. They were really helpful!Tero PPL(A)
February 1, 200422 yr Tero,Nice approach! It's a challenging one as well.Kind regards,Stephan Haaswww.lemont.nl/b767flightdeckhttp://www.pic767flyingclub.com/images/sas544.jpg
February 1, 200422 yr Author Thanks Stephan,Yeah, I liked the approach very much. It's nothing like the ordinary long and steady approaches. It's steep, difficult, and one has to be very precise not to overshoot the final, glide and speed!Very interesting, indeed.Tero PPL(A)
February 1, 200422 yr Hi Tero,Very nice indeed! Did you see my screenshots of a landing at Madeira with a 767-300? See my web site, screenshots, landing at Madeira...Nicowww.nicokaan.nl
February 1, 200422 yr Author Hi Nico,Yes, I have browsed through those pics many times :D.I also used your VORDME05 approach file today as a reference. Although I flew the thing by hand all the way from FUN, the reference track was really helpful. One thing I noticed was that you created a 8DME FUN point in the track, like Pedro XXXXX recommended doing when the LPMA event took place. However, I flew the turn from 6.7DME, and it was right on the money, arrived right at GELO.cheersTero PPL(A)
February 2, 200422 yr Nice Job Tero. We had a blast when we did the event there. At least one our 767s found their way into the side of the mountain as I recall. On another note, I am using that latest picture of the Finnair early on a cold morning as my windows wallpaper during these winter months. That is a fantastic picture.Mike

That is a fantastic picture. If you mean the one that Tero posted earlier here, it is taken by me. ;)And I'm very glad that someone else likes too :)btw. hopefully I get something even better tomorrow ;) (a nother B757 to EFOU)
February 2, 200422 yr Tero, nice shots.Where did you have planned as your alternate?Flights to FNC usually carry what is known as Island Fuel - this gives about a 2HR fuel reserve - enough to get you to LPFR.Out of EGPF, 757-200 with RR engines usually burns around 15 tonnes, but takes around 23-24 tonnes in fuel.Other airport I know of that has similar restricitons is KEF - GLA is the primary alternate and during the winter months it is not unusual to have 4 or 5 Icelandair 757's at GLA at the same time.Later
February 2, 200422 yr Author Hi Mark,Here are the dirty details of my flight. I had 3% contingency fuel plus I took 1000kg of captain topoff. Alternate was LPPS. My PLF was 4 tonnes, but I ended up landing with 2.2 tonnes due to heavy headwind all the way. Yes, I know.. a bit too tight fuel planning ;). Next time I'm wiser, though.--- cutOFP 1 310104/15:04:42AY2363/31 EFHK/ STD 1600 ETD 1600 SLOT ....B752/OHLBX/MQAG LPMA/ STA 2130 ETA 2127CRZ ECON PROGVIA EFHKLPMA01 OBS========= ========= ========= ========= ========= ========= ========= FUEL END WEIGHTSTRIP 19.9 05:27 PLNTOW 103.5 ....... February 2, 200422 yr Great pics Tero! How I miss my PIC :-violin I installed FS9 on my new computer and lost ability to use 767PIC (rudder trouble you know...).Add to that a small cockpit accident I had this weekend when on of the monitors collapsed and cut my yoke's usb cable on its way down.Had to cry about it somewhere ;-)Hoping to see you all soon in the skies!Ilan
February 8, 200422 yr Author Fraps works with FS2004 only. In FS2002 it will totally humiliate my pretty powerful PC. There's a bug in it, or something. In FS2004 however, it's a whole different story. With PICv2, consider it done.Tero PPL(A)
