Does Level D worry you?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,First real post on here for some time, but the question is valid.Reading the forum recently, and the features list on the website, I am worried about level D.Well actually not relly worried about level D. more on my ability to operate her. (BTW I have no RW pilot experience, but over 800 hrs online with BAV and PIC V1).In a topic I read earlier this evening, someone mentioned that they were (obviously) looking forward to FLYING the level D.That got me thinking, we REALLY are going to have to fly this thing. not just get in it kick the tyres and light the fires.Boy am I looking forward to this CHALLENGE!!!!!!Currently I start my pre flight about 30 minutes before a flight. I think this may increase considerably with the level D sim, and all of the new procedures we have to carry out.Does this worry you? It is not so much worrying me, rather than scaring the hell out of me.Earlier I posted that I would do a week in the Seattle are learning how to fly this airframe. I may need more time. But I don't want to sound ungratefulMy thanks to Wade and the team in advance, for a product that even before it's realease can make me think againRegards

Chris,I think you'll find that once you get used to the routine (shouldn't take too long) 30 minutes should be plenty. Of course that depends upon how thorough your walk-around is. :)

Hey Bob,I am in a A332 at the moment, it is on short term charter from Qantas via PSS. (FS2K2 corrupt only FS9 available)Currently a good plan ad pre-flight takes 30 mins, but that will change as I get my hands on the more complex airframe. (one without just the up/down button)BTW does Renton have a place where I can dump afore mentioned A332 when I pick up the B763????

You'll want to pick your 67 up at Paine Field (KPAE) or Boeing Field (KBFI). Renton only handles 737's. Paine Field in is where the 747,767 and 777 are built. Most delivery flights originate from Boeing Field once post production test flights are made.Brian

Chris,Don't worry, while it seems like a lot at first, it gets easier with repetition. Just get in and fly and follow your procedures and checklists and things will get easier with time.I own the previous PIC76, the PMDG 73's and the PSS Airbuses and they all took a little learning, and even with the help of my father who is a real 76 pilot, I still find repetition and practice is the best teacher and it makes all aspects of the flight easier over time. But, to me, the challenge of learning a new aircraft like the LDS763 is the fun part of add-ons of this caliber. But thats just my two cents.:-) Happy flights all!Travis Menard

I totally agree with you.I didn't have to learn too much, to fly the PSS aircrafts though... they're not too realistic and a lot of systems are missing. Basically, they are, even for the 330 and 340, FS2002 add-ons.The PMDG, the PICV1 gave me some trouble, but I came over it quickly with, as you said, repetition. The CaptainSim aircrafts, I took a little longer to master them, not because they're complicated to use, but because those are old aircrafts and the way you should use their systems and fly them is not quite the same as newer aircrafts. As for the PICV2.0, I really can't wait to test fly it. Because it's another challenge, that really looks promising. It seems that it's the most realistic bird made for Flight-Sim, I can't miss that. All those things, the release being delayed and all, well I guess it's just because LD Sim guys don't want to do the same mistake PSS and CS did on their last releases. I mean : put them on the market full of bugs and stuff. I guess I'll really wait a little longer, but I assure you, when it's there, I'll be one of the first to buy it. JPC

Chris, you're in good hands, don't worry about it mate ;-) Sure, the level of realism will increase a notch or two, but that's why we're PIC drivers as well as BAV pilots...And if you still have questions after my new BAV manual is released then let me know (but I'm sure you will cope).Hope to talk to you later today on our comp freq....:-)
