Hi Tuomas,Point taken about the Voltage issue.>The iocards/opencockpits folks speak a strange language :)What about Finnish then? That's even more acacadabra for me :)Well spoken about the "I paid for " attitude.Nicowww.nicokaan.nl1704.png

Sorry George, It sounded as if you had 3 serial cables running from your computer. But I understand. Can you be more specific on the changes to the classic to allow it to run on 5vdc.Or, would it just make more sense to build the comNG board and use the classic key ad led boards that I have now and any new ones, build from the ng range (if they are available).Does the IO board plug directly into the com port or the com board?I too like the fact we are directly comparing IOCards and FSBus. I helps people who are new and totally confused about which way to go.David

Hi DavidLeaving place for Georges comments i will put that this wayif u wont to use NG boards--u have to buld new COM module witch supports both, classic and NG This way you can have mixed Fsbus setup--simple as thatYour present Com supports only classicSo far i wonder if ther are enoght good reasons to rebuild the stuff -will wait for responces and commentsAs to IO stuff -can be connected via Usb ot parallel portregards

Sorry for messing up with Open cockpit stuff , DAvidIn Fsbus everithing connected via FScom board , to serial port, just the way that is yet no additional connections needed

GeorgeAs a user of both FSBUS and IO Cards, a feature that FSBUS has and IO Cards doesn't, which has not been mentioned, is the ability to control Key and Mouse pointer outputs.... with the added advantage of being able to insert an appropriate delay as is required with any LDS767 hardware initiated key inputs. With the latest SDK and Nico's FSCONV5 this will not be a necessary feature, but is useful if key/mouse outputs are required. If I were starting out for the LDS767 I would definitely be going IO Cards as Nico suggests.IOCards are actually not much different in price by kit than building FSBUS boards...remember one Master Card gives you 72 inputs (one FSKEY board) and ~35 outputs (one FSLED board) all on the one board.Although I do not yet use SIOC I can appreciate its power by looking at what Nico does with it.Both have their attributes but on the whole from my limited experience with IO Cards they are more robust in operation than FSBUS.I'm stuck with both at the moment as I had already proceeded a fair way with FSBUS before IO Cards became established.Best RegardsIan

Ok.. Let's start with this one... :LOLNo, I don't have any ACTUAL experience with the NG boards of FSBUS yet, but what I mention is in the documentation Dirk has made available so far. From what I understand the advantages of the new boards are:- Cheaper Microcontrollers. Old PIC16F84A costs around E4.50 each, the new ATTiny2313 costs around E1.60 each. Comparing a six pack display board you can see that the new design is much cheaper to build.- NG Display board allows software controlled Dimming and blanking of the displays.- The new IOModule combines 3 in 1 design. FSKey + Part of FSLed + FSAD in one board. But, personally, I prefer the old seperate design.- Single 5V supply.I will try to summarize my opinion in another post.George DorkofikisAthens, Hellashttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.png

>Can you be more specific on the changes to the classic to>allow it to run on 5vdc.I simply removed the 7805 IC, the 555 and relative circuitry. Then I supply 2 voltages. 5V for normal operations and 12V for the PIC flashing.>Or, would it just make more sense to build the comNG board and>use the classic key ad led boards that I have now and any new>ones, build from the ng range (if they are available). If you have your PICs already flashed and working this is the most appropriate solution. And you keep the old FSCom board in case you will want to re-flash any of the old PICs.>Does the IO board plug directly into the com port or the com>board?Connects on the COM board as all the other cards...George DorkofikisAthens, Hellashttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.png
