PCIexpress and multiple monitors

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,I am constructing a cockpit based on the excellent LDS767I have posted a question on the hardware forum but received no replies so I shall try here. Are any of you using a computer with PCIexpress graphics cards and non-PCIexpress graphics cards simultaneously for the 3rd or additional monitors? My computer store has told me that I cannot do this.My dilemma is that I want to get a new machine to run multiple monitors (mainly the instruments (3) and FMC(1) and another one for the forward outside view (5 in total). If I go for two identical PCIexpress graphics cards (unbridged to run FS2004), the most I will get is 4 monitors?I am looking at the following specs:AMD Athlon 64 3800 X2 socket 939 Dual CoreGigabyte GA-K8N-SLI Inforce4, 4*DDR, 2*PCIEX, 3*PCI, SATA, sound, LAN1Gb DDR 400 PC3200Seagate 300Gb SATA II 7200 3G/S2x Forsa GF 7600GT 256Mb 128-bit DDR3, PCI-express X16 interface, VIVO, Dual DVI, 560MHz Core Clock, 1400MHz Memory Clockan additional PCI graphics card if possibleany comments much appreciated.Jezza

You could still add additional PCI graphics cards to the board. Forget what the shop told you.You could also look at the Matrox triple head to go (TH2Go)

Hi Jezza,Can't help you with your question but the reason of my reply is that I have nearly the same LDS767/cockpit setup and also have the intention to upgrade to a sort of config you mentioned in the coming months. Now flying with 3 pc's, all driving a WideView monitor and on the server (flying pc) the CDU, Fsconv, MCP, IVAO etc. The server also has 3 PCI cards/monitors (and the CDU on TV out). So the serverload is rather heavy. Think about adding a 4'th pc only as flying pc (panels and cdu). Than 3 pc's can be dedicated to WideView clients only.Did tonight a check with such a configuration and this was a great leap forward for the frames !Probably good to give feedback to each other with this theme.Hessel Oosten, Netherlands(Takeoff **** and here comes the @ internet mail sign **** chello.nl

Hi Hessel, sounds like you have a nice setup!I will let you know how things go. My dilemma at the moment is what computer I can buy to make it all work. The Matrox card may well be a solution for my outside views - it will be interesting to see how others develop.

From what I can tell, the software MAtrox uses loads FS in the appropriate resolution. If you use FS in windowed mode and make the interface 1024x768 or whatever a single monitor resolution is at, you should be able to run other windows next to it using the TH2Go.
