March 23, 200323 yr I'm upgrading my P3 within the next few days. Would FS 2002 be better served with a P4, 2.66, 1 GB RAM or a P4, 2.8, 512MB RAM?? I'll be using a GeForce 4, TI 4200, 64 MB card and XP. Thanks
March 23, 200323 yr Personnaly, 512Mb of RAM is much enough for FlightSim. A faster processor is always a good thing, since FS use much of the processor ressouces. To give you an idea, on my old computer I had (Duron 600 with 512Mb PC133), I was able to run both FlightSim and Adobe Photoshop at the same time, and within the RAM limit (on Win2000).Etienne BouchardWeb AdministratorAircraft ModelVirtual
March 23, 200323 yr Author Actually, I'm running a P3, 933 with 512 MB RAM and it is plenty. I think you're right. I'll probably go with the faster processor...I can always add RAM later. Thanks
March 24, 200323 yr That was a pleasure to help you :). Don't hesitate if you have any other questions !And too, pay a special attention to the motherboard you're going to pick up, it's an important part of the system. A board with an Intel 845PE chipset like the or the [link:tw.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-8PE667%20Pro.htm| Gigabyte GA-8PE667 Pro] will give you some insteresting performances with 6-channels onboard audio and integrated network card.Etienne BouchardWeb Administrator[link:amv.dyndns.org]Aircraft ModelVirtual
March 24, 200323 yr Fully agree, my Asus P4PE-L board with 512 Meg of PC2700 memory works great and runs very cool. Onboard sound and LAN works flawlessly.I've got a hunch that a P4-2.4 will do the job and save you some money..that is what I'm running (with a GF4-4200-128) and when I overclock to 2.8 speed I notice no improvement in FS2002, so I've backed off to running at stock speed..
