September 27, 200322 yr Hi Clayton, good to hear! There's an oddity I noticed with the A7V8X regarding the setting of CPU and RAM FSB. If you have anything faster than PC2100 RAM installed (which would be synchronous with the 266MHz FSB of the XP2100+), it may either lower your CPU clock speed, or increase its FSB. The solution is to go into the BIOS, select your RAM FSB manually, set it to 266MHz (or 133, i.e. 133x2=266), boot, restart, then go into the BIOS again, and select the proper CPU speed.Basically, the motherboard does not like asynchronous FSB speeds (and you get better performance running them in synch, anyway).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
September 27, 200322 yr Right. That runs at 400MHz FSB by default, so for best performance, underclock it to 266MHz to run in sync with your CPU. If you feel adventurous, you could try to overclock your CPU by increasing the FSB via the BIOS, and increasing the RAM speed accordingly. Make sure you have all the safeguards set, though - like automatic shutdown on overheating etc. (There should be a utility on your mobo CD for that).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
September 27, 200322 yr Author hi Gostathx for the tips!but you know i nearly had a heart attack! at ( 28 :-lol ) but i dont think i am game to interfere with it,i have booted up 2004 and she is fine, i will leave her as is!thx for your support! I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 27, 200322 yr Hi Clayton,I know where you're coming from :). I've been through this type of thing a few times (at 33 :)).However, I would recommend synchronising your FSB speeds (it means your RAM won't be pushed to the limit). Look at it in the way of a train schedule - Your train from your origin (the CPU) leaves every 10 minutes and arrives at the station, where you have to change (RAM socket). There, the onward connection leaves every 7 minutes, so you invariably will have a wait. By lowering the RAM FSB, you make sure that the onward train also leaves every 10 minutes, so it makes for a much smoother journey...Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
September 27, 200322 yr Author Thx Gosta i will do that,i will do it, tomorrow morning fresh and a new day, (hopefully) forgotten about yesterdays nightmares ;-) I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 27, 200322 yr Hehe, yes I understand completely. I guess the best thing for you now, is to enjoy a quiet flight in your favourite plane and not see another BIOS until after a good night's sleep :).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
September 27, 200322 yr Author Yup i am just enjoying all the AI land and taxi and takeoff at my home airport YBBN in my PMDG 737, very satisfying :-)by the way on a side note i did 3D mark2001 and i got the following score 4469.This is my systemAMD 2100+WinXP SP1512DDR3200 RAM40gig HDD 7200rpmGeforce 4 Ti4200 128meg at 4524 drivers 8X AGPDirect X917" LG700S MonitorAre these figures right for such a system? I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 27, 200322 yr Honestly, I never ran any of the bechmark utilities, so I don't have the faintest idea, whether that's good or not - I just go by the basic laws of physics and what looks good on my system :). However, I'm downloading it right now, so we can compare (I'm getting curious now :)).My system is:AMD Athlon XP300+,Ausu A7N8X,ATI Radeon 9700 Pro,1024MB PC2700 RAM (Kingston),120MB WD 7200HDD w/8MB cache,DX 9.0b,Enermax 460W PS,17" NEC monitor Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
September 27, 200322 yr You'll be in for a bit of a wait - it's downloading very slowly, I've just reached 54%, and that's with broadband...Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
September 27, 200322 yr Right, here we go: 5971. Don't know, if that's good or bad, but maybe I should have shut down a few programs before running it... :).Funnily enough, though - during that shoot-up thing in the office tower lobby, I got much higher frame rates in the high detail test than in the low-detail one... Weird.Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
September 27, 200322 yr Author lolwell alot better than mine!anyways i am off to bed.Night! I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 27, 200322 yr Gosta that seems awfully low for your system man.Im on a 2700+ 333FSB and an A7N8X and a 64mb ti4200 and I get 12000 3dmarks.
