Hi all!I'm in the proccess of upgrading.Choice of CPU is between:P4 2.8 Prescott IMb Cache orP4 3.0 512kb CacheWhich do you guys advice?I was thinking that The 1mb Cache of the prescott will outweigh the slightly slower speed.Any ideas? Thanks allregardsbahri

Im a die hard Intel a really excited user but the prescott i have to admit has NO real advantage over the Northwood core.. Best you Go with the Northwoods than the Prescott (unless you want a new heater :-lol ).. I started to build my pc in Christmas and was waiting for the Prescott. What a waste of time... ended up with a Northwood anyways. Also ... while i support intel, the framerates you can get on those athlon 64s are making me green with envy :~P

>Also ... while i support intel, the framerates you can get on>those athlon 64s are making me green with envy could you elaborate ?I looked at many AMD-Intel fps published on simhq.com and Intel and AMD seem pretty much equivalent these days (I am talking FS2004 only). Sure something like AMD 64 FX-53 is now the fastest but its price well beyond the benefit it provides (and P4 EE is no better).I would say anyone chosing AMD versus Intel system these days and focusing on the MSFS only would have a hard time to decide.Michael J.

I'm a big AMD fan myself. Go for an Athlon64 with that beefy 1600mhz FSB. It will knock the socks off the Intels running only at 800mhz FSB. Another great thing about the 64 is that you'll be ready for future 64-bit programs. Intel hasn't taken that step yet and is lagging far behind both Apple and AMD.

>Go for an Athlon64 with that beefy>1600mhz FSB.where is such an Athlon with 1600 mhz FSB ? I don't think it exists. Please prove me wrong.Michael J.

Hi Maxis, your signature is too big. Maybe you can merge and resize the images to comply with the following rule:Signature ImagesWe have evaluated the use of signature images on the AVSIM forums and have established new policies that go into effect immediately. The reasons for this change has everything to do with speed of message load and appearance. Please implement these changes immediately, if you do use images in your signature.1.) Only one (1) image is allowed2.) That image shall not be larger than 400 x 60 pixels in size3.) The image file shall not be larger than 10 Kbytes in size4.) The image can be animated, but shall not exceed the 10 Kbytes sizeYou can use text in your signature, but the use of any image shall adhere to the above.Thanks,Gosta. http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg

>Here's the one I'm getting. Athlon64 2800+ 1600mhz bus speed.>http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...sp?EdpNo=719647This could be a simple mistake or advertising hyperbole.I checked with folks who put together Intel and AMD systems for living and they told me only AMD 64/FX matches Intel's FSB with 800Mhz. Regular (non-FX) AMD-64 operates with 400 FSB. Do not confuse memory FSB with the Hyper Transport (device I/O) in AMD.Or go to the AMD website and read some of their specifications. Then it becomes clear what's going on.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg
