February 11, 200521 yr You should get something exactly like Cougar 64 system from this place:https://progresssystemsinc.comThis is where I got mine.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
February 26, 200521 yr Asus is faster usually but more expensive, Abit boards are great foroverclocking I own one.
February 26, 200521 yr IMHO, the best possible mainboard has three main features: 1st: A good chipset (which is usually identical on all brands). 2nd: A decent bios (this varies a bit from brand to brand). 3rd: A good bios update support. Here all three brands mentioned in this thread score well IMO. Personally, I'ld recommend boards with nForce chipsets for the AMD64. Either the nForce3-Ultra (w/ AGP) or the nForce4 (w/ PCIe). Good luck and kind regards Jaap
February 27, 200521 yr If your upgrading your system you should consider going with the AMD 64 bit processors and the pci express board from asus. With good ram a good graphics card you will have a pretty super system there.Gary
February 27, 200521 yr Author I'am looking at an AMD64 3500 949 pin and an X800 ATI video card. Getting prices on Monday. And it's all because of Level D Wife just released funding today.JimCYWG
February 27, 200521 yr Good choice. Also if you go with the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe MB you will be able to put in a FX55 chip when it comes time to upgrade in a year or two and also run 2 PCI express graphics cards in sli mode for superior performance.Gary
February 27, 200521 yr Asus usually make the most reliable (and feature rich for Deluxe-versions) motherboards for AMD, but they are expensive. The A8N SLI are getting very positive reviews. I'd buy one myself if I could afford to upgrade.-
