Any Qantas flight plans between HKG and LHR?

Featured Replies

Hello there everyoneI was just wondering if anyone had anywhere some plans of Qantas flights between HKG and LHR. I ask for Qantas plans because I have recently learnt that Qantas 747s are capable of flying over higher terrain because they have extra oxygen bottles in case of a decompression, so can divert at a higher altitude for a little while until they are clear of the higher terrain. This enables them to take a slightly more direct routing to London when they fly. Thanks a lot for any help,Rudy

In my experience, Qantas actually takes the longest route from LHRto HKG via India + the edge of Himilayas. However this route is alsothe fastest route and it takes around 11 hours (sometimes less than11 hours as filed).I'm flying on QF30 next Fri, I don't know if I can ask them for aplan. Does anyone know the best and most polite way to ask themfor a copy (I have camera as well)? Also will I have a betterchance of getting the flightplan if I upgrade to business class?I'm also looking for any LHR-HKG plan which has a flight time below11 hours (11:00-11:05 still accepted), and a HKG-LHR plan which hasa flight time of around or below 12:10 (is it even possible to flywithin 12 hrs?), thanks!

Hi thereI flew on QF29 recently (economy class) - the HKG LHR route. I didn't visit the flight deck on this leg, but I did on the SYD to HKG leg after landing in Hong Kong. I asked one of the more senior flight attendants I think he may have been the CSD I'm not sure, but he was a little higher than the others), about how many people were on board, and he very kindly gave me a sort of catering sheet with the people on board on it. I also enquired about visiting the flight deck after landing - he very kindly telephoned the flight crew straight away (we were about 1H 30M away from Hong Kong) and said that prior to landing they will move me to upstairs in Business class, then once we have landed and parked I may visit the flight deck.Maybe I was lucky with a nice crew but I thought all of this was extermely indulging and nice of them. I often find it better perhaps to explainy you like planes first - so they don't think you are going to waste the flight crews' time (too much!!) I am very happy with Qantas and this wonderful crew (as was I with another BA crew on the return journey).I am kicking myself now because I forgot to ask two things - about a copy/photo of the flight plan, and for the cost index they use!!! Absolutely mad about that!Anyway, good luck with your visit - if the crew you have are near as friendly as the all the crews I had on my journeys with QF/BA, then I'm sure you'll enjoy your flight.

Wow Andrew, those Dispatch files are really awesome, thanks for posting them. Any chance of any others? Please. Bob

First of all, QF30 did used to fly over Delhi since its launch, but yesterday's flight (which I was on) was using a differentroute, which is direct to Moscow, straight line to Urumiqi, thenalong the edge of the highlands of (North) Himalayas. The flighttime was 11:17. I was approved for a cockpit visit after the flightand the cockpit crew told me that this new route was only approved6 months ago, and the actual route will depend mainly on wind factorsbut it is likely to stay similar. The extra oxygen bottles is onlyneeded for L888 which is actually used on the LHR-SIN route plainlyto avoid the war zone in Afganistan, and no fuel saving / flighttime advantage on this route.I'll (try to) scan the flightplan later.

Hi ! CMBTRANS. I have been trying to contact you without any luck :(. You are one AMAZING guy with all this INFO. PLease if u scan the flightplan show me it. I hope to get to chat with you. I will Give you my MSN and/or email. Best regards:Alexander
