December 23, 200223 yr Damian - it seems the fps drops are due to winds aloft (at least on my system here). I disbaled FD updates for new stations AND winds aloft simulation check boxes and i no longer get the fps drops during an update. The Idle priority and firewall issues made no difference at all.Hope this helpsDave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
December 24, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi Dave,Well it sounds like you are experiencing system overload then, your system just cannot handle doing so much at once without causing some slow down. As you may have read, I am working on complete worldwide winds aloft and this will have completely new code and processes which should be much easier on low-end systems. I will also be doing some other performance-enhancing coding. This is for the 1.1 update due January. For now, there are many possible solutions, but please realize the problem is not neccessarily wxRE, but rather your system being overloaded while trying to do too much at once. These things can help:Disable/unload unneccessary programsTurn off virus scanning softwareTurn down sliders in FS2002Update your video driversMake sure you are using the latest FSUIPC and ADVDISP (if you use it)Defrag your hard diskThere are many other users using lower-end systems that do not have these frame rate issues, so there has to be SOME kind of combination that will work better for you... If anyone with good results can share some configuration settings info it would be much appreciated!Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 24, 200223 yr Author Thanks Damain, as i have no other apps running in the background for this test (yet normally I can run as many as 5 other addons while flying without a slow down of more than 2-3 fps) means I will be looking forward to trying the optimized version next month.PS - if there are any folks out there running a p3-800 or LESS in online mode with FD updates and Aloft Winds simulation enabled WITHOUT substantial fps loss during live weather updates please post on this thread as it might prove helpful!ThanksDave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
December 24, 200223 yr Hi Damian,I don't think that the FSP drop down has something to do with a slow system. On my machine with a P2.4 I have the same effects like on a "slower" AMD 1800+ machine.CheersThomas

Hi Thomas,Have you tried setting the cloud density at 50%?(BTW, AITM is another great add-on, thanks for it.)
December 24, 200223 yr I think I've tried everything. I already tried all sliders down to minimums, but still same effect of having FPS 3-5 d during METAR updates.Thomas
