December 25, 200322 yr Hi there all, Happy Holidays!!Here is my problem. I fly all of the time on VATSIM, heck, I'm flying on there right now. I create a flight plan from within FS, and pull it up on AS2004 using the New Route key. I have my settings to download online updates and VATSIM wx, but the flight plan always has weather from the 12th of the month, never the current date. It seems like the weather server it is pulling info from is forever stuck on that date... What gives, is it a problem reading info from the VATSIM wx servers or is it something with AS2004 or is it something I'm doing wrong? Thanks for any help anyone may provide. Fly safe!ChuckAthlon XP 2800+ASUS A7N8X DeluxeAntec TruePower 480 PS1.0 gig DDR PC2700ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128 running Omega DriverSB Audigy 2WD 60 gig HDDWD 40 gig HDDCH Products USB YokeCH Products USB PedalsWindows XP Prohttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg Chuck Blake Intel Q9450 CPU ASUS P5E64 WS Evolution Mobo 2.0 gig Corsair DDR3 1800 TWIN3X20481800C7DFIN WD 750 gig HDD SB Audigy 2 XFX Nvidia 9800-GX2 Black Edition CoolerMaster UCP Series 1100w PSU CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000 Case Sharp LC32GP3UB 32" HD LCD Dell 2405 24" Widescreen LCD CH Products USB Yoke, Pedals, Throttle Quad Windows XP Pro SP3
December 26, 200322 yr I just tried everything and couldn't duplicate. You are not using an archived weather file are you?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
December 26, 200322 yr Hi Chuck,You don't say if this is your first online flight with AS2004 but if it was make sure "Online Updates" is checked in the Options. Don
December 27, 200322 yr Author Don, I do have Online Updates checked and I also have a check for VATSIM. I have tried everything to get AS2004 to pull VATSIM wx, but am having no luck at all. I compare the wx that AS2004 shows against what the metars are at the airfield I'm flying out of from ATC and from ServInfo, and the AS2004 weather is never right. Maybe it is this crazy dial-up connection I'm on through Earthlink, who knows? When I run ASwxRE 1.92 though, everything works out fine... By the way, I don't run them at the same time and after I do run one, I always clear out the weather before letting the other program do its thing. December 27, 200322 yr Author Jim, Thanks for replying. I don't think I am using an archived weather file, but just to be sure, what is it I need to do to insure that I am not. I usually just set up FS, make sure the weather is clear as the instructions say to, then start up AS2004, and it immediately goes to a metar from the 12th. Perhaps it is pulling one. In the meantime, I'll double check my settings and see. Thanks again.ChuckAthlon XP 2800+ASUS A7N8X DeluxeAntec TruePower 480 PS1.0 gig DDR PC2700ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128 running Omega DriverSB Audigy 2WD 60 gig HDDWD 40 gig HDDCH Products USB YokeCH Products USB PedalsWindows XP Prohttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg Chuck Blake Intel Q9450 CPU ASUS P5E64 WS Evolution Mobo 2.0 gig Corsair DDR3 1800 TWIN3X20481800C7DFIN WD 750 gig HDD SB Audigy 2 XFX Nvidia 9800-GX2 Black Edition CoolerMaster UCP Series 1100w PSU CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000 Case Sharp LC32GP3UB 32" HD LCD Dell 2405 24" Widescreen LCD CH Products USB Yoke, Pedals, Throttle Quad Windows XP Pro SP3
December 27, 200322 yr Chuck,Is the weather still dated the 12th?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
December 28, 200322 yr Author Jim, I did some checking and when the program is installed, there is a file in the AS2004 folder called current_wx_snapshot.txt This is why the weather is always dated from the 12th, it's reading from that file. Now how do I get AS2004 to do a fresh online update? I tried renaming that file, but after doing so, I was getting errors. I don't know if the problem is that or this crappy internet provider I am using. I really wish I were on my high speed connection, but while on the road like I am, this dial up is as good as it gets for me. Thanks.ChuckAthlon XP 2800+ASUS A7N8X DeluxeAntec TruePower 480 PS1.0 gig DDR PC2700ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128 running Omega DriverSB Audigy 2WD 60 gig HDDWD 40 gig HDDCH Products USB YokeCH Products USB PedalsWindows XP Prohttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg Chuck Blake Intel Q9450 CPU ASUS P5E64 WS Evolution Mobo 2.0 gig Corsair DDR3 1800 TWIN3X20481800C7DFIN WD 750 gig HDD SB Audigy 2 XFX Nvidia 9800-GX2 Black Edition CoolerMaster UCP Series 1100w PSU CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000 Case Sharp LC32GP3UB 32" HD LCD Dell 2405 24" Widescreen LCD CH Products USB Yoke, Pedals, Throttle Quad Windows XP Pro SP3

December 30, 200322 yr Commercial Member Hi Chuck,This really looks like AS2004 is not getting through the internet to download any new wx. Try downloading current (Download, Current wx) and see if it completes. If not, that is the problem. Check your firewall software, etc. Usually this kind of thing is related to a firewall. You may need to enable permission for AS2004. Some Firewall software MUST be disabled due to problems allowing AS2004 to communicate using the MS IE Internet control, so if you can't get permissions right, try turning it off entirely. Also note that when using VATSIM online, you must use a flight plan loaded into AS2004 with the appropriate departure/arrival stations. See docs for more info...Let us know if that helps!-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 30, 200322 yr Sorry Chuck,I lost track of your post. Things to try:Start FSStart ASPut VATSIM Server to: OFFRefresh weather.Tell me the date of the METAR that shows up.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
December 31, 200322 yr Author Damian and Jim, I think I have it by the horns now. I started up AS2004 after getting FS set up. I clicked on download, current wx, then I refreshed. I had Online updates checked and VATSIM updates not checked. AS2004 then brought up the current weather off of the HiFi servers, great!! Now I just need to work through the VATSIM updates. I made a flight plan, imported it into AS2004 with online updates not checked but VATSIM checked. The Nav Log shows the current VATSIM weather, but AS2004 is still reporting the current real world weather. So then I refreshed and it was the same. Then I went and checked both Online updates and VATSIM and clicked refresh. AS2004 locked up on me... Oh well, at least I'm getting somewhere with it now!! Thanks guys!ChuckAthlon XP 2800+ASUS A7N8X DeluxeAntec TruePower 480 PS1.0 gig DDR PC2700ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128 running Omega DriverSB Audigy 2WD 60 gig HDDWD 40 gig HDDCH Products USB YokeCH Products USB PedalsWindows XP Prohttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg Chuck Blake Intel Q9450 CPU ASUS P5E64 WS Evolution Mobo 2.0 gig Corsair DDR3 1800 TWIN3X20481800C7DFIN WD 750 gig HDD SB Audigy 2 XFX Nvidia 9800-GX2 Black Edition CoolerMaster UCP Series 1100w PSU CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000 Case Sharp LC32GP3UB 32" HD LCD Dell 2405 24" Widescreen LCD CH Products USB Yoke, Pedals, Throttle Quad Windows XP Pro SP3
