February 27, 200422 yr Hi,Thanks for your interest in our products! Some things to remember:Thousands of users are successfully using our software everyday. You will never see posts from them. Many of the fixes we are trying are problems coded into FS9 itself. Damian is doing this with no SDK at hand; not an easy task.We offer public, unofficial releases to gain as much feedback as possible. Yes, there is a private testing team and we could work behind closed doors. But then every 2nd post would be: "where's the patch?" "what's the delay?" "what's taking so long?" So we work in public, attempting to work out every last situation for our users. Will we ever get there? We hope so! Yes, the FS 2002 version is more stable because it was revised many times to get to this point. BUT, be aware that is was designed for FS2002. It was updated to run with FS2004, but some features are adjusted. I don't want to mis-lead anyone here! Please write back if you have other questions or concerns.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
February 27, 200422 yr I just purchased ActiveSky in the last few weeks, and I am very happy with it so far. The amount of configuration options is amazing (a little daunting at first), and allows you to configure the weather in your sim to suit your preferences. Sure it has limitations, but it is by far the best weather addon out there. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
February 27, 200422 yr Alright, let's clarify things:1. I was going to buy AS from RC Simulations in the U.K. That's a boxed version. How 'up-to-date' is that?2. If I buy it as a download from your site, is that a basic version which needs ALL updates, or just the last one?3. Is the main diiference between the fs9 and fs2002 versions the radar display feature?Eytan
February 27, 200422 yr OK, no problem!1. Depends on how up to date they are. Remember though it is probably wxRE, the program for mainly FS2002.2. No matter the purchased version, each will require just the update to the latest version.3. In a nutshell, no. AS2004 is a program designed from scratch to take advantage of the new weather engine in FS04. The radar display is just one difference. For AS2004:http://www.hifisim.com/activesky2004.htmFor ASwxRE:http://www.hifisim.com/activeskywxre.htmRemember, if you purchase wxRE there is no free upgrade path to AS2004. These are 2 distinct programs, mostly designed for distinct versions of FS.What version of FS are you flying with?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
February 28, 200422 yr Hello!Same here! I've been watching these forums for quite a while now, and I see lots of users post problems about wind shifts...I had a chance to see it at work, and I also noticed severe wind shifts (which are probably very dependent on where and when you fly!) and overspeeding the aircraft, which I believe can lead to overstressing and crash. From the screenshots and from what I've seen, it can produce really beautiful looking sky. But what's the use if you go onto the toilet and come back with your FS loaded on the departure airport, because your aircraft has been overstressed due to 180 degrees wind shift...?I would very much like to buy this software for it's graphical possibilities, but if I have to turn off winds for that...don't think so...And talking about SDK...is that ever going to be released, so that Damian can program ActiveSky bug-free? :)
February 28, 200422 yr And Jim...Is there some Demo or a way that I actually test the ActiveSky on my computer and on my standard routes, for like couple of days, to see really how bad it is? Before actually spitting out the money for it...:)Thx!
February 28, 200422 yr Hallo.I'm a recent customer, both it just a few days ago.Just like you after many time spent reading here and there about AS.I don't bother installing some patches, rather i value that software team that is constantly at work for improving its products, and let the users partecipate in this process. Many simply let you wait ages before letting out a patch. Here you can download the latest beta if you want, or just wait for the next release.About the program itself, in order to obtain the best possible results you have to circumvent some FS shortcomings, and that's where problems arouse. The simple metar loading is made even by Squawkbox.AS goes a long way ahead. As a new user i haven't experienced all the hassle that others may have in the past, i can say that i'm happy with the program right now.I don't even use it at full potential (route planning or weather radar), i use it to improve my weather experience and so far i'm very happy with it.Follow the instructions, especially about FSUIPC setup, and everything is fine.My 0.02$
February 28, 200422 yr OK thanks,Then I would SUGGEST wxRE. It can be used with both FS versions on the same machine with only one install. If you go this route, please write us back in a new topic. There are some helpful settings that I can share with you.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
February 28, 200422 yr Word Not Allowed,No, I'm sorry there is no demo version. I understand your concern about the wind shift problem. With the latest Beta update Damian has made great progress in this area. It may not be perfect yet for everyone, but we are working on it.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
February 28, 200422 yr >Thanks for your report! He he, de nada :)Don't expect i won't criticize if the need arouse though ;)Right now i'm happy, and all is working A-ok so i'm more then ahppy to contribute the way i can :)
February 28, 200422 yr >. There are>some helpful settings that I can share with you.>What are these 'settings'? FSCUIP related, or specific patches?>>
