June 7, 200421 yr HiActiveSky seems very good, except for one point. With a layer of total cloud cover at say 3000ft, I pass through it to 5000.When below the cloud its total cover and looks good, but when above the cloud I see the ground below, through large patches in cloud. Surely this shouldn't happen.I'm using the MR release of Activesky with FS2004.
June 7, 200421 yr What you've described is an FS9 problem - many folks have this issue and there's no perfect solution. With respect to AS2k4 - do you have "overcast enhancement" checked in the options? This helps a great deal.Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
June 7, 200421 yr """With respect to AS2k4 - do you have "overcast enhancement" checked in the options? """Yes I do, but thanks for the response. If anyone has any fixes that improve this let me know. I want to not be able to see the ground so I HAVE to navigate properly! Overcast is the main weather condition in the UK!
June 7, 200421 yr Hi,Other things to check:Make sure 3d clouds are 100%Make sure cloud density is set to far right. Can't remember the term used on the FS screen!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
June 8, 200421 yr I agree with Scott, this is a FS9 problem,I used those settings but still could see the ground above the clouds :-((Rgds,Hamilton Hamilton Müller
June 10, 200421 yr FWIW, here's my undercast from a flight last eve...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/79534.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/79535.jpgDefault textures, except for cumulus01.bmp, which I think I'm using Bart's v.4 - could be v.6 or Chris' highest fps version - I loose track of these things!AS2k4 overcast enhancement is OFF!Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
June 12, 200421 yr Hi Scott,in my case I meant close to the ground for example, setting the base of the clouds 200ft height, whem you Hamilton Müller
June 13, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Hamilton,I suggest using the visibility limit enforcement option. Set max vis to 2 miles for casual IFR approach realism or turn it down to .25 for some REAL fun! :) Using the vis restriction feature also can dramatically increase frame rates and fluidity in the sim, which is good when flying by instruments :)But your clouds when overcast should be limiting your visibility as well. Perhaps you need to adjust your options to provide more computer horsepower for cloud draws (FS9 dynamically provides differing cloud densities based on your display settings and current frame rate).Does this help?-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
