Featured Replies

Is it normal that when my activesky2004 gets update i only get in FS 2-3FPS or even much more bad frame rate!????My system is ok since i get 40-70FPS with the PMDG but when its updating i get this slideshow? Can anyone help to do something about?Ah and my internet connection is ADSL 1Mbit/sec.thank youTamas Mezei

Am using AS2004 and now the newest one!But i had it with the one i bought a month ago.

OK thanks. So you copied and pasted the new FSUIPC? Do you have any other software running at the time of FS and AS? Do the stutters happen during the download of the data or during the writing of the stations?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi,No, this is not normal at all. At what point during the update does this happen? (During download, during weather writes, during radar generation, etc?) Check your AS2004 main screen during the updates so you can follow along with what it is doing.Do you have antivirus software running? Perhaps your antivirus is causing the performance problems when scanning newly download wx info?

Well to be honest i dont know since am flying in full screen.Yes i did paste the new FSUIPC!

Ok thats the one.Yes am do use Norton Antivirus. But if i dont use.Is it safe???

OK suggestions:We need a little more info. When you get a chance fill us in on the questions we have asked. For testing run FS in Windowed Mode and drag the top of the FS screen down 1/2 way or so. Then position AS at the top of your screen. Have FS be the active program and you can watch both FS and AS.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

You shuld never run antivirus when running flight smulation. All FS2004 tweak guides talk about it. And Norton is specially CPU intensive. You can always run antivirus after you finished simming.Michael J.

Hi,You should disable "real-time virus protection" when running FS9. Not only can real time protection effect As2004, but it will slow your entire sim experience down. Yes you'll be safe, as long as you don't run any virus-infected files while your real-time protection is disabled. Basically, don't download and run new programs that you don't trust until FS9 is closed down and protection is re-enabled.Hope that helps!

OK guys thank you for the help!I l do that.I was just affraid of viruses.I had once dont realy want it again!

What about the internet security of Norton???Cause i get a lot of trojan horses or intrusion!!!Can run that or not?

Hi Thomas,I would recommend that you keep everything off that could cause performance problems during your sim flights. This includes any internet security software as you have. You're not going to get any viruses or trojan horses by using FS9 and AS2004. Just make sure you don't browse untrusted sites and download untrusted software until you have re-enabled virus and internet security (meaning you're done simming).Hope that helps!

OK :-smooch

I'm afraid that switching off personal firewall when being connected to the Internet is not safe. A lots of viruses and trojans can directly attack Windows services when machine is not protected by personal firewall. You don't have to browse any sites or run any programs to be attacked :(
