December 15, 200223 yr :-zhelp I've posted in other forums as well. Just looking for maximum exposure. I'm looking for people who have successfully integrated these software and are able to get radar returns.I have followed, to the best of my ability, the suggestions made by others using these 2 pieces of software. I have seen Tarmac's post at the FlightMax site. As of yet I cannot get redar returns when using ActiveSkywxRE. I believe there is going to be a new version of FlightMax next week that fully integtates the 2. However, until then, I would like to have the radar working. I get liberal returns when using just FS default rain, but as soon as I load wxRE, I lose returns. I have not moved my aircraft. And I have tried refreshing the weather in wxRE. I've tried different start sequences of the programs. I've tried many things. I think I may be missing a link between the programs somehow. Some people said to have FSFlightMax .ini point to the wxRE folder. I don't know how to do that either. Thanks in advance, Adam
December 15, 200223 yr Rather than manually trying to get the two working together, I suggest you wait a day or two for the release of the FSFlightMax update to reslove this. That's what I'm doing.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)
December 15, 200223 yr Russell, You're probably right! No sense pulling out hair when I only have to wait a few days anyway. Thanks, Adam
December 15, 200223 yr Hi Adam,In your Flight max.ini file addthis line under FSMeteoFSMeteoDirectory=drive:and what you installed Active Sky toMine looks like this--- FSMetoDirectory=E:Active SkyHope this helps,Edhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
December 15, 200223 yr OK. Willing to give it one more try!. Ed, I deleted previous FSMeteo entries in the .ini as per Tarmac's suggestion. Can you tell me what they were so I can put them back and then put this under them?:FSMeteoDirectory=C:Active SkyI usually do a back-up but it was late last night and I was falling asleep! Thanks, Adam
December 15, 200223 yr Even better, if you could post your .ini. Don't worry about the hotkey stuff, just the stuff before that. I'll need to know where in the sequence the FSMeteo stuff goes. Thanks again, Adam
December 15, 200223 yr Be glad to,RegistrationFSMeteoFSMeteoDirectory=E:Active SkySizePositionX=1342Y=38W=5121280x1024Left=1292Top=4Width=686Edhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
December 15, 200223 yr Personally I don't mess with the FSFlightMax .ini file. I use the FSFlightMax Configuration Editor and specify the ActiveSky directory where you're supposed to put the FSMeteo path.
December 15, 200223 yr Thanks Ed. And thanks Brian. I haven't seen this configuration editor yet. Must have overlooked it in my reading.Adam
December 15, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi Adam,The current FSFlightMax compatibility is a little confusing and is partly to due with the fact that the FSFlightMax update with full "ActiveSky Support" is not yet available. But I can assure you that if you follow the readme.txt included with wxRE that it does work (for most people anyways). If there is some kind of other problem I'd be happy to help you out.. check out the readme, give it a go then let me know if you are still missing echos! Also please check your radar tilt settings, make sure you can see the returns in FS2002 only before trying with wxRE to make sure your Flightmax is actually working for radar. Also make sure you refresh in wxRE after changing airports. You can check that the export is happening correctly (for the right area too) by looking at the wx-export.met file that is created after a refresh. December 15, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi also make sure you are enabling the feature via FSFlightMax settings menu (see readme.txt) and make sure you do not have a "OFFLINE FILE SET" selected (so that it updates in ONLINE/live mode instead of OFFLINE). Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 15, 200223 yr Hi Damain, I'm getting my money's worth, eh! ;) I want to run wxRE in offline mode due to the fact that I have a dial-up connection that frankly sucks. I live in Northern Manitoba and the connection is such that using online mode is not, at the present time, a viable option. It is very common to lose your connection or have lengthy periods of inactivity.A fellow named ED is helping me now. I'll keep plugging away at it. It's good learning for me anyway. If all else fails, I'll just wait 'til the new version of FMax is released.I'm really enjoying ActivSkywxRE. It really has made quite a difference though I have only scratched the surface of it. Thanks.Adam
December 15, 200223 yr Commercial Member Adam, sorry I did mean you had to run in ONLINE mode but there is existing FSFlightmax functionality for ONLINE or OFFLINE mode in the other product... we are using the ONLINE functionality here in this case regardless of the mode we use in wxRE.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 16, 200223 yr Hi, I'm making headway! I now have the activesky metar files showing up in FMax under the "manage FSMeteo" window. However, when I choose the correct file and press enter nothing shows up on radar. If I go back to the manage FSMeteo window, it has reverted to "use none". None of the three options in the menu will take...yet!I'll get this!!!Thanks, Adam
December 16, 200223 yr Commercial Member Adam,You want "USE NONE" selected there. Make sure the [other add on] option is also "enabled". It's right next to the menu item to get into this screen you just posted. If you post me your FSFlightmax.ini file I can verify this is set correctly. Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
