July 3, 200520 yr I've been using ASV for almost a week now. So far I am not impressed. I feel that AS2004.5 worked so much better in depicting the weather. One problem I am having is the haze issue. I have the haze setting unchecked in ASV but on every flight I end up with haze on final approach and I can't see the ground. Latest example was today. I did a flight into DFW. The weather in real life didn't have any haze. In fact there were no clouds. But using ASV the FS sky was partly cloudy and there was haze almost all the way to the ground. I do have online updates checked. How the heck to I get the haze to go away? The other problem I'm having is that one second I'll have clouds and the next they disappear. What is up with that? On a flight I did from DFW-DEN I experienced this most of the way at cruise. I'd get close to a cloud and then it would just disappear. I have been a user of WXRE, AS2004 and AS2004.5. I purchased ASV almost a week ago and to be honest, I wish I hadn't. I feel that AS2004.5 is a much better program than ASV. Sure ASV may be pretty but it doesn't work as well and frankly I'm becoming frustrated with it. I'm looking for some help with these 2 problems before I dump ASV altogether and go back to AS2004.5. Right now the default weather in FS9 works better than ASV. Any help? Thanks in advance.
July 3, 200520 yr Hi,Please post your ASV.ini settings.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 4, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi,We can't compare things unless we have the METAR string in use. If the Metar is reporting less than 10SM then yes you are going to see reduced visibility.Get close to a cloud and it would dissapear? Are you referring to the way FS9 renders clouds? Nothing AS (any version) does would effect this.Something is certainly wrong, I am not sure why your results are so negative.. I have never experienced anything like you describe and I'm sure the vast majority of ASV users have not either... Let's check things out and get it working right for you.. If the Metar is reporting less than 10SM then yes you>are going to see reduced visibility.> I'll see what I can do to post this. The metar for DFW showed clear skies with winds out of 170. I believe it showed .9999SM but I could be wrong on that.>Get close to a cloud and it would dissapear? Are you>referring to the way FS9 renders clouds? Nothing AS (any>version) does would effect this. I'm refering to a partly cloudy sky. I can see clouds all around me and then in the blink of an eye they're all gone. I'm left with a perfectly clear sky. then a few seconds later the clouds are back again. There's nothing smooth or gradual about it. >>Something is certainly wrong, I am not sure why your results>are so negative.. So I'm not the only one reporting this.>

July 4, 200520 yr >Hi,>>We can't compare things unless we have the METAR string in>use. If the Metar is reporting less than 10SM then yes you>are going to see reduced visibility. Sir, I am unsure of how to get this info to you. I started ASV and tried to do a download for today's weather at DFW when I experienced this problem. All I got from the program is a message "Downloading WX data from HiFi Data Net (04z). The program just doesn't go any further. Maybe you can try running ASV from your end and downloading the weather for 07/03/2005 at 1210hrs Central time at DFW. Then you can have the info that you requested. But I did try. Is there another way to do it?Bob
July 4, 200520 yr Hi Bob,Supression Ceiling=4000TAF Processing=FalseHope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 4, 200520 yr when i turn on supression ceiling the clouds dissapear and reappear spontaneously. also if ASV is writing to FSUIPC and the user pauses the sim or hits the alt menu the weather will clear sometimes.
