July 22, 200520 yr Sorry if this has been addressed before.I know I've asked this before, but having used the old version I had the out of memory error and solved it by switching the clouds to DXT's.Since installing the new version I got the error again. I haven't switched the could sets as of yet.I'm using an ATI card. Is there anyone else having this problem? Thanks. Jeff D. July 22, 200520 yr Commercial Member HI Jeff,In both case, it is not normal you got this error with as 4.5 or asv with any x clouds format, all should works with 32 bits or dxt. What's is the exact pop up message error you got about the out of memory? Can you post your system spec? Os, Amount of Ram, Video Cards Driver, Agp Aperture in the bios, everything..... Your software running in the background spyware, antis virus, etc.ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
July 22, 200520 yr Author PIV 3.2 HT, 2gb RAM, WinXp Pro, ATI Radeon 9800 XT Pro 256mb (atidvag.dll,6.14.0010.6414 dated: 12-12-03), Direct X 9.0c, I can't remember the BIOS setting other than I set it to a higher value (maxed I think), no spyware or virus stuff running while in the sim. This only happens with ASV and was only solved before when switching cloud texture sets. Weird I know.Thanks. Jeff D. July 22, 200520 yr Commercial Member HI Jeff,And the error message was what's exactly? I saw you have 2gig of ram,http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...B;en-us;q253912Don't set agp aperture to max, normaly between, 64, 128, 256 depend on the system performance.ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis

July 22, 200520 yr Author I get this error only after the flight is almost over while on approach. It's really weird.I can't find where to adjust these setting using the MS methods. I'm looking myself around the system tools to try and adjust the ram avail to windows and reduce it to 512 to see if that works. Jeff D. July 22, 200520 yr Commercial Member HI Jeff,Sorry for the error lol (it's late), but the second can works. Can you try to remove one slot of ram and test?ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
July 22, 200520 yr Author I suppose I could...hehe, but I think I'll put back in your set of DXT clouds and call it a day. Also, on a side note: Using the ASV upgrade option it installed another FSUIPC to the ASV folder. I had to remove it as I already had FSUIPC in the modules folder of FS. There was an error message there as well. I got the new version of ASV to run after deleting the second one that ASV installed. Thanks and have a good one. Jeff D. July 22, 200520 yr Commercial Member HI Jeff,You can see here, maybe it can fix it.http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;815069process.Try to defragment your hard disk and Rebuild the Windows paging file, Re-install video cards driver etc.ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
July 22, 200520 yr Hi Jeff,Although Windows may set it is running out of memory, adding more RAM may not necessarily help (ironic, I know). This is due to the way Windows allocates memory. I'm not sure of the technical details but suffice it to say that having 2GB RAM may not solve the problem. And in fact, it is precisely the 2GB RAM that may be causing a problem. Is your 2GB spread out into four sticks of 512MB? Some motherboards have trouble running four sticks of RAM in a stable manner, EVEN IF the motherboard has four slots. (Yes, again ironic.) Try removing two sticks of RAM (be careful which two sticks you remove, you want to keep your system running dual-channel if your motherboard chipset supports that). Also, make sure that the two sticks that remain on your motherboard are identical. You may find not only that the error message no longer appears, but also that there is a negligible performance hit (I went from 1GB to 1.5GB and noticed no tangible performance difference.)On a separate note, you may want to upgrade to the latest ATI Catalyst drivers (version 5.7), available from the ATI Web site.Hope this helps.Edwin
July 22, 200520 yr Author Edwin,Thanks for the response. My puter came with the 2 gigs (dual channel) Dell XPS. I know not many programs, if any, will use it and as you said may hurt in most cases. In my experiences changing the drivers of your video card to other than the one supplied is generally a pain in the behind not to mention they generally don't help...lol. I've tried it many times and it doesn't make the g-card or pograms run any better. That's why I went back to the original drivers. I'll probably get blasted for saying that, oh well.On the other hand I changed the paging file back to system managed. We'll see what happens tomm. when I load up again. Jeff D. July 22, 200520 yr I was getting this same error with (what I thought was) Ultimate Terrain USA. Turns out it was an addon I had... where I mistakenly put landclass files into the same folder as other scenery with textures. There is a known bug in FS where if a landclass bgl is in a scenery folder with a texture folder, it causes a memory leak which eventually fills up your RAM. You need to separate landclass bgls so they only exist in scenery folders with no texture folder (not even an empty texture folder).I would recommend taking a look at the addons you have installed and make sure you don't have this problem too. Perhaps try making a flight in an area where you only have default FS scenery, and see if you run out of memory then.Ruahrc
July 22, 200520 yr Author Unless ASV installed some landclass I think I'm ok there. Jeff D. Nielsen (KMCI) https://www.twitch.tv/pilotskcx https://discord.io/MaxDutyDay VENGEANCE a8200 Gaming PC: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, GeForce RTX 5080, 64GB DDR5, 4TB (2TB/2TB) M.2 SSD, Win11 Pro
