FOG problem is back again!

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago I posted about a problem regarding haze and fog suddently appearing. It's in the following thread:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=20215&page=3I applied the recommended changes and it seemed to have cleared up the problem for a few weeks. Now it seems like it's suddenly returned. I load a flight at KLGA and then I wait a few moment for ASV to loadup the online weather. Moments later the weather will load and I will see some wonderful cloud textures. While I'm still sitting on the runway about a couple of minutes later the entire sky goes grey. I've tried this at several airports and first it loads up what looks to be nice looking weather and then a few moments later instant greyness and I havent even taken off yet. Everything was working so perfectly for the past few weeks but now this problem has come back and it's driving me nuts. I enable SLEW mode to see how high this fog goes and it goes way above 10,000 feet. I dont understand why the weather is initially loaded correctly but then moments later it becomes total greyness. Is this a problem with data from the online updates because the problem dissappeared for a good few weeks. Thank you again for any assistance.

HiI was just about to post for the exact same problem !!!!! I also use Flight Environment 2004, but that is only a texture replacement package. I was wondering if it perhaps copies a SKY texture with a very soft horizon which makes it look VERY hazy.I too cannot get rid of HAZE no matter what settings I have. I have disabled FS9 FOG Layer and Fog layer generation in ASV, but to no avail.I also see those beautiful FE2004 clouds load only to be completely replaced with a WHITE/GRAY extremely hazy horizon...Man !, and I only bought these packages over the weekend !!!! Now I'll be tweaking and tweaking until it comes out of my ears !!!And my wife will complain about me being infront of "that stupid pc" !!!to much.....*sigh*What to do ?Do you also get the sudden white to blue(ish) colour changes in the haze ?

Well from what I have been told, Flight Environment is not supposed to interfere at all with ASV so I can't really say if that is the cause of the problem. ASV is a fabulous product when it works right so I'm not giving up on it.I dont think I've experienced the sudden white to blue haze problem however.

But we do agree that while sitting on the runway waiting for ASV to update the weather we find that clouds gets drawn and then after a few seconds it gets completely washed out by a massive haze which makes the clouds look as if they dissapear in this haze, Yes ?Cheers

>But we do agree that while sitting on the runway waiting for>ASV to update the weather we find that clouds gets drawn and>then after a few seconds it gets completely washed out by a>massive haze which makes the clouds look as if they dissapear>in this haze, Yes ?>>Cheers>Yes that's exactly it. ASV loads what appears to be nice weather and some really beautiful clouds and then moments later everything goes grey :(

Yep, I am experiencing exactly the same thing. I have tried a few things now, and i just cannot get rid of this haze. This is why i thought it might be because of a day texture that Flight Environment 2004 is copying to FS9 that causes this.I tried to change maximum visibilty to 30, 40,45 59 etc but none of them makes any difference. If you clear the weather with FSUIPC you will see the HAZE will dissapear along with all weather, so it must be a WEATHER settingWeird thing is that I get this thick haze even though the METAR at the time reports 9999 visibility ( clear ) 10SM CLR.Something must be causing it because from other posts i have read, it seems that everyone is complaining about this thick HAZE in ASV which was not there in AS2004.5I think I might uninstall everything and re-install but dunno if this will help at all.

Do you have ICS enabled or are you on MANUAL? I am using MANUAL because I read somewhere that if you want to use the clouds from FE you should set ASV to manual but anyway I've tried ICS and other settings and it still has not helped. It's hard to diagnose this problem because it seems to come and go.

Manual...I hope this issue can be fixed somehow

Guess What I didI left that plane on the grass between the runway and taxiway....went to the shops, and when i got back, the sky was PERFECT !!!!The Metars must have updated and something must have changedI will test morebye

>The Metars must have updated and something must have changedI also feel that perhaps it's some kind of incorrect data coming from the METARs because otherwise this problem would be occurring all the time but instead it seems to come and go based upon certain conditions I guess. The question is what are those conditions?

Hi MateWell why don't you do a test also. Load FS9 ans ASV and FE2004, then sit on the runway ...see the clouds appear ( if any ) then you will probably see that HAZE and then wait for the METAR to update, see if that HAZE dissapears...Try and let me know what you find...it would be interesting......i'm gonna do some more testing now !!!Dunno when I'll ever get to fly a REAL flight, coz all i'm doing at the moment is trying to get rid of that haze !!!!! :-)This image was taken after the haze disappeared ( sorry for the massive size ):http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/9848/test9fm.jpg

Jim....with that thick HAZE, it states Clear skies - no clouds and more than 10M visibility, 9999 etc....

JimYes it is !! And Fog layer generation is turned off as well !See the floowing screengrabs ( in order ) and you will see what happens:This pic is just after I start up from Sydney Australia ( random airport i selected - see i can see the mountain in the distance :http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/4503/1large0mw.jpgThe next image is after ASV has loaded the METAR and related weather ( now i can hardly see that mountain ):http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/9582/2large7tb.jpgThe next one is after taking off to show you the amount of haze for supposedly "CAVOK" conditions !!http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/3239/3large3xu.jpgWith this one I can hardly make out clouds, but if you look closely, they are there !!!!http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/7760/4large7my.jpgThe last one is right after a metar change : Now THIS is the way it should look like !!!!!! And this confirms that the haze is less on a metar changehttp://img150.imageshack.us/img150/305/5large5zo.jpgSo what to do......it only happens on initial startup, after the first METAR change it seems to be OK !!!
