FOG problem is back again!

Featured Replies

Hmm lookin at your pics it seems that you are much better off than I am. I don't get haze. I get massively thick grey fog with absolute zero visibility.I just tried something and got interesing results. Loaded ASV. Loaded FS9 and then loaded a flight at KJFK. Waited for ASV to load the weather. Weather loaded and looked great for about a minute and then the usual grey wall of nothingness. At this point I decided to try something. I enabled SLEW and took the airplane straight up until I was over the fog and could actually see some cloud formations. Once I saw this I used SLEW once again to bring the aircraft straight down to where it was originally when the flight loaded. The interesting thing is that this time the weather looked correct with nice cloud formations and the stupid fog was gone. Not sure what this means but I will continue experimenting. At least this is one method for now to remedy the problem.

I just tried running FS9 without loading ASV which means that only Flight Environment is active. I enabled the usual realworld weather updates. Sure enough the weather loaded and looked great but then the instant greyness popped up. Does this mean that Flight Environment is the cause of this problem and not ASV?The following pics taken at 2 second intervals show exactly what happens. I apologize for the large size pics.

Wow, that is BAD !!!Mine is not THAT bad...Try the following.......Load FE and FS9 first....Then load ASV....I found this helped me .... i did not get the haze after i did this...I did however find the haze popping in and out during flight though, I wonder if there arn't any parameters which controls visibility and these parameters keeps changing causing visibility to be less one second and more at other times...but that is a wild guess.FE is just textures, it should not interfere with ASV's intrnal workings AFAIK

Before I was loading ASV first and then FS9. However I have a question regarding FE. Since FE basically installs a bunch of random or prechosen cloud textures does that mean that FE has to be running in the background just like ASV? I've always clicked on the FE Randomizer which shuffles the FE textures and then just automatically loads FS9.

Hi mate, no it does not need to run in the background !You run the randomiser once, and then it opens FS9 for you.....thereafter you start ASV and let that run in the background...This seems to be the best procedure on how to start up the whole lot !Maybe with the new update to ASV 5, some of these things will be addressed - well lets hope so !Cheers

Did you not see my screenshots Jim ? A few post up from this one

You really think it should be THAT hazy with picture 2's METAR following shot 3 which is right after takeoff ?PS I will post my ASV.ini file a bit later today...

My ASV.ini settings as requested Jim....Nothing out of the ordinary i think !//ASV configuration file Build 325[General]WindowPosX = 495WindowPosY = 495DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesASVSuppressionCeiling = 5000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9CloudLayerLimit = 4LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 55LastPlanFolder = NONEAutoVasFrequency = 40AEStartupMode = 3IncreasedWake = TrueDisableWindsAloft = FalseDisableRandomLightSelect = FalseFavorCumulus = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = TrueForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoSetFSTime = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseAutoSaveAETheme = TrueOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = FalseUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 1AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 20000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE

Jim one thing i did notice is that the problem isn't nearly as bad if I start everything in the following order : 1 - Flight Environment 2004 ( which in turn fires off FS9 ) 2 - ASVBut...If I start ASV first....then this happens !!!! I have AE set to manual so that it does not copy any textures to FS9....so it's kinda weird as you say....But like I say If I start everything up in the sequence above, all seems to be OK !Maybe others might try this if they experience similar issues.FS9 first and THEN ASV

Jim, that made no differenceI load up the sim, clear all weather.....so I have blue skies...Then I refresh ASV to load the weather, and as soon as the bar comes up with the METAR, i get a thick(ish) haze on the horizon, and it disolves almost all clouds around me.....They just start to "melt" away as the HAZE engulfs them...I tried this at a few airports and it does the same thing at all of them...... and all of them report either CAVOK or 9999, >10sm...So something isn't right....I even did a FS9 online weather update via Jeppesen, and then I do not get that THICK haze....so it cannot be the textures from FE2004..I only get it as soon as ASV loads the METAR for a particular airport and usually it is more noticeable if it reports clear skies because the engulfing haze layer is then very apparent and it swallows almost all clouds ( if there are any )..I don't know how to proceed now.....maybe try AS2004.5 ?Any more Ideas what could be causing it ? Do You experience it ?
