soft horizons again

If I uncheck the Dawn, Day and Dusk Sky Colour options as shown in the attached screenshot, am I right in thinking that ASV6 will NOT then overwrite the related files in FS9?These appear to be files provided by Soft Horizons e.g. sky_afternoon_0.bmp, sky_afternoon_1.bmp, sky_afternoon_2.bmp etc etchttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/138361.jpg

Reading the posts on this subject again, I didn't express myself very well. What I'm trying to do is to stop ASV6 overwriting Soft Horizons (which seems to operate in the Sky Colour section) each time I start up, but let ASV6 choose everything else on a Weather Influenced basis.Obviously I don't want to have to do this every time I load ASV6 - its takes long enough to get a flightplan into the FMC etc etc as it is and I'm bound to forget it until until I break through the clouds and think "d%mn it it's not meant to look like that!"I don't think I want a Theme - I'm not trying to keep everything I had last time, in fact I DO want to use ASV6 to update on the basis of the weather downloaded, I just don't want to overwrite those few files.Having unloaded and reloaded ActiveSky Graphics, it looks as if unchecking those boxes is a temporary not permament fix, which doesn't seem to be what I want.I hope that's clearer!

What does the "preserve random selections" do?And how do I "auto submit"? Does this make ASV6 slect everything apart from the items I have unchecked?

Hi,Preserve Random Selections is an option in the Theme Save panel. What this does is keep the randomized selections made during that session and save those items in the theme file. Meaning you won't get different (random) items the next time. If on the other hand you want all Rnd entries to stay Rnd for the next load, uncheck "Preserve Random Selections".Auto-submit is a way to have any theme automatically submitted during ASv6 weather updates. If FS is closed, the "Full" theme as chosen is used. If FS is open, the "Cirrus" theme as chosen is used (as only cirrus textures can be updated while FS is running). This is designed for Random and Wx-Influenced themes so you can have things changing each session without needing to even go into ASG.Remember, auto-submits occur every weather update. If you have auto-submit enabled, any manual selections you make will be overwritten as per the auto-submit themes configured - each time ASv6 weather updates.Best,

Thanks for the info on this, I'll have a play around and see if I can get it set up!

Why can't this soft horizon look be be an option within ASVe6 itself rather than having to install yet another addon? I like soft horizons but I also like the sky textures that come with ASVe6 and wouldn't want the relevant texture files being over written for the sake of soft horizons.Bruceb

Hi,Have you tried the Smooth Horizon Day sky sets included with ASG? This might be what you are looking for..Best,

Thanks, I will give them a try. I think Jim misunderstood my query as I wasn't asking for ASVe6 to load someone else's textures only suggesting that it provide something similar.Bruceb

A follow up question. How do I keep a smooth horizon sky set fixed with random or weather influenced textures, ie I want everything to be random or weather influenced EXCEPT the smooth horizon sky set? Thanks.Bruceb

Hi Bruce,Right now there is not a way to save a wx Influenced Theme and that is something we are working on.In ASG I think there is an option to disable a texture from being randomized. I don't have things up and running right now and I need to take care of some family things at the moment.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

Hi,You can manually edit the wx-influenced.thm file you are using (or copy it to a new filename and edit that one) and remove the line for for texture items you do not want selected/submitted. This will in effect leave the last submitted item (so it won't change). We are indeed working on providing wx-influenced custom theme save capability within the interface.Best,
