Radar quit working

Featured Replies

I recently installed ActiveSky 6 and it worked fine for about a week, showing green weather patterns in rainy areas. For the last several days, I have been in thunderstorm areas and there is plenty of lightning, but no rain... The first time this happened I thought maybe it was just one of those weather related things where there is just lightning, but today I was in the Nashville area and when I started getting T-Storm weather forecasts on 122.00, I checked with www.weather.com and there was plenty of moisture related thunderstorm activity around Nasville, yet even with the Radar Situation zoomed out to 200 miles, there was no sign of moisture. So what gives with Active Sky 6 not showing the moisture and thunderstorms on the Radar display?

Hi,Suggestions:1. On the Tracking screen was there any precipitation listed on the Precipitation line?2. Try a uninstall/reinstall cycle. Please let us know!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

... I got it working again, but only by going through the laborious process of uninstall/reinstall. Ridiculous... Also, when your program is uninstalled it leaves Registry trash, and over 90 MBytes of files that have to be deleted by hand,,, C'mon, if you can make a good program, at least take the time to make sure the uninstall works correctly also.

Hi,Let's try to keep things friendly here, OK!

Hi Gray,We are sorry you had so many problems. We do take the time to make sure everything works correctly from installation to un-installation and we have a team of users that do the same.It may be that your registry was corrupt to begin with and that may be why AR stopped working to begin with. I am not sure as to the procedure you went through to un-install, but no files or registry entries usually need to be manually deleted. We are pleased that you are up and running again and if this happens again, please let us know so that we can troubleshoot one-on-one with you.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

GRAYI've had this twice now and have done the un install/install cycle which fixed things.Certainly didn't have to un install anything other than AV6.I left the previous versions untouched.JIMThis seems to happen a bit from what I read here but I gather you still don't know what causes it.Could be a million things I suppose but it is a nuisance even though the above does work! The add on is such a good one that it is worth sticking with it.

I've had to uninstall/reinstall 3 times now, in order to keep the radar working. The program works fine except for that particular glitch that seems to develop every 3 or 4 days.By the way, I am a fanatic about keeping my registry uncorrupted and cleaned up so my machine works spot on. What I said above, about Registry trash, still stands and each time I uninstall, the program leaves over 90 MBytes. Your uninstall routine definitely needs working on.

Hello,What happens every 3 or 4 days that might be causing this required re-install issue? Do you perform any maintenance tasks or anything consistently every 3 or 4 days?As for the uninstallation, on uninstall, we do not delete anything that has been placed/copied within the AS folders AFTER installation. This includes: User saved weather, templates, themes, and, the biggest item: The PRE-ASG texture backup (approx. 90MB).Not sure about 'registry trash', can you be more specific? We use Installshield exclusively.Regardless, your comments have been noted and as we work towards future installation methods we will keep all this in mind. Thanks for your input!Best,
