Active Radar not showing precipitation-again!

Sorry to raise this again.I know there has been a lot of discussion about this already and I too have experienced the lack of display in the past.A reinstall worked but the fault came back.Every few weeks or so.It's happened again! This time with a new PC which is of good spec for FS9.I have been running AS6 for about a month now with no problems and all of a sudden yesterday and today-no precip-and there has been a lot about in UK.Are you any nearer finding out what is going on?I have read a lot of the previous posts on this topic and certainly the uninstall worked for me but it's a nuisance.I have the latest FSUIPC.

Hi,Unfortunately we haven't ever been able to duplicate this issue in-house or in internal beta, so it's a bit hard to put a finger on. My best guess is that the ActiveRadar.cfg file is getting corrupt at some point resulting in invalid AR operation after the next load.The good news is that we are totally redesigning AR, which should eliminate any and all such problems, add many new features, and offer a big performance boost as well.In the mean time, if you have any further findings on this or find a way to duplicate the failure, please let us know. Thanks for the reply and sorry I'm late getting back to you but I've been away for the week end.I can't really add any more to what I've said before.Once the sim gets into this state-and everything else in AS6 works just fine BTW-it will not show any precip no matter what the wx is doing,cats and dogs,snow,TS are all invisible.It doesn't show up again until I've done the reinstall.It seems quite a few suffer with this.Good to hear you are working on it and thanks again for replying.If anything else occurs to me I'll let you know.

Just a suggestion. You may want to get it working and then make a copy of the activeradar.cfg file. Then when it starts to mess up again, copy the clean cfg file over the top of the active one and see if it fixes it. You could also then send the corrupted cfg file to HiFi for analysis.

The reinstall worked-for 2 sessions only.I am now not showing any precip in the Radar Display.I am looking forward to the next release!!

Thought you'd say that somehow Jim!I did not have Spwsweeper on my earlier machine!I still had the problem with AR though.On that machine I ran Spybot now and then but not on a regular scheduled basis.I'll be in touch.

I use nod32 as AV and Microsoft Firewall (after a router/firewall modem) and I also can have the problem. Several days ago I was in the middle of a storm and no precipitation on the radar. Yesterday it showed some precipitation arriving from the sea between Ireland and England.

RogerI am currently in E mail discussion with Damian and Jim about this problem.In my case,once the display fails it never come right unless I uninstall.Apparantly there are 10 or so users who experience this.I am waitng for mine to go wrong again then I will send the files for them to analyse.I don't want to embarass them but they are being very helpful!
