December 1, 200619 yr HiWhat sthe best way to run these three programs together? I want to use Flight Environment clouds and Ge Pro for the ground textures and of course ASv6.5 for the weather. Thanks
December 2, 200619 yr Hi,Run FE and set those textures. Close FESet up AS to auto-start GEP and to handle Sky textures by GEP.Turn Enable ASG Auto Submit off.Run AS and either import your plan or at least manually enter your departing and destination airports. AS will process your basic plan and then auto-start GEP and from there you can start FS04.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
December 2, 200619 yr Author Hi JimIf I follow the second step:-Set up AS to auto-start GEP and to handle Sky textures by GEP.Won't this tell GEP to use GEP sky Textures and not the ones provided by Flight Environment? Thanks
December 2, 200619 yr Hi Jason,Yep! So then run FE last and don't start FS through GEP.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
December 3, 200619 yr Jim - Does GEP sky textures include CLOUDS? I got the impression it was simply the background colour of the sky. What about all the great cloud textures in ASG? Can we have our cake and eat it too? If I choose to use ASG for the sky, will GEP still blend sky and ground textures? (Ie will it choose matching ground textures to go with the ASG submitted ones. Are there any advantages/disadvantages of stating GEP from AS or the other way around? If I load a flight plan in GEP, will it get sent to AS? Vice versa?
December 3, 200619 yr Hi,Lots of stuff here so let's go one thing at a time:1. No, GEP does not have cloud textures, ASG or FE do. Yes, you can use ASG cloud textures and GEP sky textures. 2. If you use ASG for sky textures, then no, GEP will not blend the sky textures because ASG is submitting the sky textures.3. Not sure what you mean by advantages/disadvantages.4. If you load a plan in GEP it will not be sent to AS. If you load a plan in AS, and have the proper options turned on, the plan weather will be sent to GEP in order that GEP will choose the proper textures to send to FS04.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
December 20, 200619 yr Jim:Sorry for resurrecting a slightly older thread, but...I've always used FE for my clouds; however, of late, I've wanted to experiment with ASG's clouds. I, too, have GEPro over WideFS with AS6; great combo, and I'm looking to perhaps make it even better with ASG.Just one question: just for the sake of argument... if, after experimentation, I no longer want to utilize ASG's clouds, is it really any big deal at all to simply run FE once again and have it copy its clouds over to FS, thus overwriting ASG's stuff?I guess what I'm really asking is whether I have to do some sort of special backup before I start using ASG's clouds in order to be able to return to FE's clouds. Am I making sense? (I hope so)Thanks for any info!
December 20, 200619 yr Hi,Nope, just run FE once and the FS04 textures will be over-written just as you said!Thanks!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
December 20, 200619 yr >Nope, just run FE once and the FS04 textures will be>over-written just as you said!Awesome, Jim. Thanks a bunch for following up. Now I'm off to do some cloud watching.Have a great Xmas!
February 17, 200719 yr I'm using AS6,GE PRO, FE and FSAutostart. I also what to use FE's clouds and sky textures. What's the proper way to start FS9?Dave F.
February 18, 200719 yr Hi Dave,FS AutoStart to shut down services and start AS6.Then Flight Plan in AS to trigger GEP. Do not allow GEP to start FS.FE for clouds and sky.FS04.Thanks, Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
February 18, 200719 yr Thank's Jim, but what if FS is running before I put the flightplan in AS6. I usually plan my flight after I start FS9.Dave
February 18, 200719 yr Well, you have to have FS9 closed BEFORE you can import ground textures. PLain fact. Either use an external flight planner, or plan your flight, save the plan, then quit FS9 and go through the hoops above. (Or live with the textures you had as of your last flight in the sim)Good luck.
February 19, 200719 yr Hi Dave,Just plug in your departure and destination airports before starting FS. That is all AS and GEP need to set textures. Then, you can start FS and make your detailed plan and re-load it in AS, if you wish. But at least this will set your textures.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
February 20, 200719 yr I choose not to send my plan via AS cause I always send plan via GE pro, is that ok ?
