I'm having the same issue. Turning off windows defender does not appear to do anything.

Hey, bud I had te same problem and tried everything!. I uninstalled everything, tried just running 6.5 without the update, and running with the update. It still did not work for me. I turned off my firewall, anti-virus. nothing worked. I think I figured it out. It's an easy fix and I'm sure you've seen the warning's about "running as an administrator". On your desktop, for Vista users, right click the icon on both Active sky Engine and the other one (can't remember the name), and do the following. Right click icon, select properties. on top click tab compatablities, then towards the bottom check run as administrator. Make sure this is checked and hit apply. Thats it!. In a few seconds you will see a shield next to your icons. Its a shield with 4 different colors. Once you see this, try starting Active sky again. it should work. it did for me. Hope this was helpfull. Let me know if this helps.PS After doing this, I was able to run it with anti-virus and firewall.
