Serious problem

First - this is NOT an ASX issue - happens with or w/o ASX loaded but I wonder if anyone has seen this before. Also, it just started happening today.Flying in the LAX area, using ANY a/c - heavy cloud layer between 1500 & 2200 feet - looks like the FSX fog layer only very thick. Now, the issue - when I descend into this layer - *everything* disappears - vc panel, spot view, ground, etc. If I descend below or climb above the panels and visibility returns. It looks like the opaque windscreen issue but includes the panels. the 2D panel will display however. If I clear all weather - no problem.Anyone run into this before - I don't recall ever seeing or hearing of it. Before I blame it on a driver or somehting else, I'd like to get some feedback.Thanx,VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx 169.13 betaKandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg

Sounds like an overclocking and/or heat issue. But thats just my opinion.Or Antialiasing. that can do strange things to your windshield.DaveESSB

My system o/c has been stable for months. I tried with and w/o video card o/c - same result. Heat might be something to look at though since my video card fan wasn't operating properly.Haven't changed my aa settings in a while so I doubt that's it, in this case. Used the VCRain fix and that resolved the opaque windscreen but this also has the vc panel disappearing.Didn't think to save the weather setup. Any idea how I can set up the haze layer manually?Tried setting visibility in FSX to 1/8 mile but it's not the same.VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx 169.38 betaKandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg

I've been seeing this too over the past couple of weeks. It is what I have termed "Super Fog." It seems to happen when ASXsp2 or ASXsp3 (so far) sees my FSXsp2 server come online over simmconnect-client. I don't know if it's a Nvidia driver, ASX, FSUIPC 4.25+ or what. I also described it here becuase someone else had started a similar thread. "White Screen Entering Fog" - http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=24804It seems to clear up after ASX says completed and I manually press the "Refresh" weather button. I can also slew up above this super-fog layer and realize all my views again. When this super-fog happens, I can't see outside or any part of the VC panel or surrounding framework, anything outside the aircraft external view, and only the forward panel in 2D view (not even the back of my seat when looking backwards in 2D). Honestly, it seems to coincide with the approximate time I installed SP2 for FSX. I had just done a complete WinXPsp2 re-install and fresh FSXsp2 install the other day and saw it again this weekend. Also, it does always seem to happen when ASX indicates "depiction active" on my wide-client and it happens at various airports, but usually in really crappy weather, as that is what I look for (via internet weather radar) when I decide where my flight is going to start from. Please, if you experience this and don't have any of the addons below, please let me know so I can narrow my trouble-shooting list. Thanks. Also, I should note, this is with Graduated Visibiltiy and Fog layer disabled in the ASXsp2/sp3 settings. So it is the FSX haze/fog layer doing this.WinXPsp2ASXsp2 & sp3XGraphics_sp2FSUIPC 4.25+ (Reg'd with Wind/Baro/Temp Smoothing)Nvida 169.28 betaGEXn v1.04UTX USA,CAN,EURFSG MeshSceneryTech LC USA,CAN,EURDoesn't matter what aircraft, defualt or paywareRegards,

I've been running SP2/Accel since it came out with no issues. I've had a stable system for months. Upgraded to Gex Enhanced with no problem. Realized I hadn't tried FSUIPC 4.25 so I installed that yesterday and I got the super fog thing.Other than that, I notice the same as you except that it doesn't go away when "depiction complete". I can be flying along and the "super fog" shows up. All is ok unless I descend and then as you, all panels and views disappear BUT the text on upper right and other text appear as usual. If I climb above or descend almost to ground - views are normal again. Happened with or w/o ASX so it's definately the FS Haze layer. In my case I also tried it with and without overclockinig but I haven't had any issues with that ever.If I could manually duplicate the layer I could try different things.Hoping that Damian or jim can shed some light on how to manually create the 'super fog' - as I said, just setting visibility to 1/8 doesn't do it.Puzzling.VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx 169.13 betaKandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg

>Other than that, I notice the same as you except that it>doesn't go away when "depiction complete"Just to clarify Vic, mine usually shows up when ASX indicates dipiction complete. It doesn't go away at that time. It seems like I can then hit the Wx Refresh button in ASX and after a good 5 or 10 minutes, it clears up and doesn't return. Also, I have seen this once when decending into Chicago midway in the default Baron. Boy, talk about an IFR experience.

Just in case, I have started this thread at Pete's FSUIPC forum. We should probably continue it there and not take up any more space in the ASX Support Forum.http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?...=429126#p429126VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx 169.13 betaKandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg
