October 16, 200817 yr Dear HifiSim TeamThe long awaited release of a three holer this week made me take FSX out of my bookshelf where it sat since I uninstalled it back in October 2006.Anyhow, to make a long story short - ASX is great - after a bit of tweaking in FSUIPC (full version), ASX performs as it should, very stable and accurate winds, no issues at all, none of the notorious wind shifts - except over the North Atlantic.Once I leave the mainland and stations become fewer, all #### brakes loose, tailwinds become headwinds, wind directions shift 180 degrees forward and back every couple of minutes plus the wind speed is not accurate either. This stops again once I reach the other side of the pond and more stations are in the area.Any idea what is causing this ?ThanksJoerg
October 17, 200817 yr Hi,Thanks for the feedback!Virtual stations and enhanced route coverage on?Flight plan processed?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
October 17, 200817 yr Hi JimYes for the virutal stations and enhanced route coverage, but nofor the flightplan processed.Might that be the culprit ? (sorry, I used AS6.5 so far on FS9 and winds were always fine over the pond even without processing flightplans)ThanksJoerg
October 17, 200817 yr Hi,That can help. Please give it a try.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
October 17, 200817 yr Thanks JimTried it and the problem is still there, still seeing a constant shift in wind direction.ThanksJoerg

October 18, 200817 yr Hi,Please use FSUIPC to slow down the wind shifts. The lack of stations is partly the cause of this. Also, I know you want to be able to use the new MD-11, but can you try a default plane? We need to see how sensitive the new MD-11 really is to wind shifts. Thanks for your help,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
October 20, 200817 yr hi,most of us new md11-pilots experience massive problems with wind shifts when using the md11. she seems to be very sensitive to these shifts even with using fsupic. somebody on the pmdg forum (i think it was even TSE) wrote, that he solved the problem by using as6.5 instead of asx. it seems to be more stable with enroute winds than the asx version. can you confirm that? if this would really solve the problem totally, i might consider buying as6.5. would i get a discount as an owner of asx?regards, chrjs Regards, Chris Volle i7700k @ 4,7, 32gb ram, Win10, MSI GTX1070.
October 21, 200817 yr Hi chris,Sorry, but I can't confirm either way. AS6.5 directly interfaces through FSUIPC, hence the difference in performance. There is no discount moving back from ASX to ASv6.5.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
October 23, 200817 yr Hi Jim:Obviously many of us are having issues with the ASX/FSX wind shift on the north atlantic. Can you tell us at least, if HiFiSim are working on a fix for this issue?CheersPaul Is there a way to auto ignore trolls, flamers and any post with a +1 in it here?
October 23, 200817 yr Hi,From Damian:"FSX's wind interpolation bugs prevent proper depiction of wind direction as set via the data. Random directions are unfortunately a known issue that after 3 years and hundreds of hours of work we have been unable to solve. Work of course does continue. One thing you may want to do (if you have ASX) is to turn on virtualstations, which can help reduce FSX interpolation bugs by supplying moredata points."Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
October 25, 200817 yr Hello all,I'm much, much happier with ASX since SP3 and the more recent versions of FSUIPC which have made FSX almost as good as FS9.However, the one big problem I have is here. I am currently over the Atlantic, Virtual station and route enhancment ticked and route processed. The report for Pseudo station $272 says winds at FL340 are 246@182 -probably the best tail wind I am ever likely to get. Can anybody explain to me why the sim says 061@0? ASX knows what it needs to do it just seems unable to produce it in the Sim.Thanks,Dan.P.S: I wouldn't be quite so annoyed if I couldn't see Mr. Smith striding away from me at 100kts more ground speed :)P.P.S: Apologies, I've just found Paul's earlier post and it seems that Jim is saying FSX gets in the way of ASX depicting winds as it wants to. Only a M$ product could take such a huge step back in functionality when it's actually meant to be an improvement. Best Regards, Dan Parkin.
October 28, 200817 yr >Can anybody explain to me why the sim says>061@0? ASX knows what it needs to do it just seems unable to>produce it in the Sim.That is the biggest problem what ASX has. It knows the wind but can Regards, Christoph Reppel (FSX, Win7 64-bit, I7)
