MAAM from space...

Recommended Posts

Below is the MAAM facility at KRDG from a satellite photo... http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maam.jpgHere's a contest for true MAAM fans: The first person to correctly name the six largest planes on the MAAM ramp wins a free B-25 Multi-Media CD. (Feek, you are not eligible - neither are any of you MAAM staffers ;-)Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif

Darn it! Beat me to it. What about those of us members of MAAM who can go there and take pictures of the 6 largest? Then post those? eh? :-jumpy-------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA 395CDG Hub Managerhttp://fly-twva.com-------------------

OK, second chance, and previous winners are not in the running ;-) This one is going to take some real knowledge of MAAM, or some darn good deductive reasoning, or both. :-wink2http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maam_color.jpgSince this one is tougher, and it's a two-part quiz, you'll get the two-CD set as a prize. Ready?1. Judging by what you see (or don't see) in this photo, what can you tell me about 'Briefing Time'? 2. What evidence supports your conclusion?I told you it was tough!:-lolBill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif

OK Bill, a wild guess...Briefing Time is away at an airshow? -The hanger is closed. She could be in there but... -The grass is green, implying it is airshow season, and... -There is little activity on the MAAM ramp and the big birds seem to be all there. The vistors parking lot is almost empty, but what I assume are spaces that staff and members away on trips park in (ie- spaces around the hanger)seem to have enough cars parked there to crew BT and a support plane...Win or lose, I already have the BT FS2002 CD and the companion MAAM B25 BT CD, and she's GREAT! BT is the only larger airplane in my FS2002 library that actually tops the FS2002 MAAM R4D. Beautiful work all the way around. WOW!!! :-)Regards,Chip JonesPS- Jan, your airplane models are works of art. The VC's are absolutely stunning. I can't wait for the Gmax Goon...

Hi Chip,You have number one - our girl is away from home, but your circmstantial evidence will not convince the judge - me! :-) But there is a "smoking gun", if you'll pardon an over-used phrase, that will.:-bang...hmmmmm, seem to be two smoking guns...Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif

Yeah, the aircraft is not in the picture. Either in the hangar or moved to another airport. World War II weekend is in the summer (June or July, 5th,6th, and 7th (something like that)) if I am correct, so it's probably away at another airport. Spring break has started and I'm sure it will get an audience at wherever it has been taken. So, it is probably away for another air show. Because Reading holds out for the WWII weekend. Two more things to support my case: The amount of cars parked is about normal. And it looks as if the planes are pushed back away from the hangar, as in something was in there.. but needed room to taxi out. (I know how you guys like to park those things.) And it probably would be in the hangar because you have some computers, restoration, and other things in there where you could replicate the aircraft in the game.:-jumpy-------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA 395CDG Hub Managerhttp://fly-twva.com-------------------

I think I got one of them: on the first picture you posted, there were two aircraft on the right, now there is only just one.Along the top side between the flight academy and MAAM: there are 3 aircraft missing, that suggests the B25 went along with those.:-jumpy-------------------Kenneth WeikTWVA 395CDG Hub Managerhttp://fly-twva.com-------------------

Nope. Forget that first picture, which was taken in 1999. The color one is more recent, as evidenced by the missing C-119, which is now being restored in the large WW2 hangar on the south side of the airport. All the evidence is in this single picture, but you have to know something about MAAM to see what it is. A member, like you, should have all the information he needs to solve the riddle, just as I did before I posed it to you. But any, very observant, museum visitor would have most of the same information, though. :)Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif
