C-47 update

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,Here's a screenshot gallery showing progress on the C-47 paratrooper works. Still a week or two to go. F.i. not featured here yet is the seperately removable para exit door. Apart from that "Sugar Blues" of the 89th Troop Carrier Squadron in full D-Day markings features the typical 'spartan' cabin with folding down bucket seats so it can be used as a cargo hauler too. The 2D panel and pop-up window colors have been adapted as well as all the virtual cockpit colors. I suppose that if you don't like green olives this one is not for you. Personally, you can wake me up anytime during day or night for a couple of green olives stuffed with ansjovis.Enough talking, here's "Sugar Blues" coming in for full stop landing : http://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f6.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f2.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f8.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f10.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f9.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f1.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f11.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f7.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f3.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f4.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f5.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f12.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/c47f13.jpgAvailable soon as a free add-on for all MAAM-SIM R4D/DC-3 pack owners.Cheers,Jan

Wow! At last a fully out-fitted alternative to my favourite R4D. Those olive furnishings will be a refreshing and very pleasant departure from all that familiar Navy grey. Thanks MAAM, I really am looking forward to this one! A super conversion!Sir John :-sword

Are you talking about the more powerful 1830-94 engines, which would be very rarely found on a period C-47, or just the larger, longer "desert scoops" atop the nacelle? These were much more common and did not have anything to do with the engine "size" or power output. If it is the latter, Jan is thinking about modeling the C-47 in the Airborne Museum, Mus

I'm not really sure. What I mean is engines such as these:http://grm.m.walla.co.il/briefcase/00f3/i/...35394888/03.jpghttp://grm.m.walla.co.il/briefcase/00f3/v/...16/PICT0014.jpgThe IAF website states it's C47s had R-1830 1200hp engines without specifying much more. I'm not sure all were the same, though.Anyway, whatever you do is welcome.http://online.vatsimindicators.net/825051/142.png

Fantastic! I can't wait to recreate the para drops over Normandy using Heather Sherman's mod of Pierino Primavesi's paratrooper drop FX (82ab-fx.zip).Peter HemmKTOAhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpgDimension 8400P4 3GHz2GB DDR2Radeon X800XL160GB SATA RAID 1

Since we're sharing pictures, here's the Dakota that's sitting in front of the British Parachute Regiment's museum at Aldershot, UK. I took this shot about 2 years ago. Now, because the Para's are moving from Aldershot to Brise Norton, there are rumors that this museum and the Dakota will be moving to IWM Duxford. As usual, the plane has the big, air filter scoops.BTW: if anyone would do this as a repaint someday, I would be eternally grateful.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/114260.jpg
