May 26, 200719 yr I've been seeing this more and more on FSX servers - people have shared their aircraft, they do not yet have anyone in the cockpit with them, but the "Join Aircraft" button is greyed out?It doesn't seem to matter if they are already in-game or still in the briefing room. It also can not be related to password protection, since the password is asked after clicking on the button (which is not possible since it's greyed out).Does anyone have a clue why this is?
May 26, 200719 yr Looks like I found the reason - if I have shared my own aircraft, regardless if anyone's actually joined it, I can not join another aircraft. I seem to remember that this wasn't the case before SP1, but I could be wrong.
May 28, 200719 yr Janne, You are exactly right, I learned that over the weekend. If you want to get into another aircraft "DO NOT CHECK SHARE MY AIRCRAFT", works for me....BTW lots of fun flying with someone and also remember if you are using VOICE SHARE when you are sharing the aircraft you do not have to push CAPS LOCK to talk, but you will push CAPS LOCK for all in session to hear...Happy Flying.
June 12, 200718 yr Nope, this was true in RTM, too. Seems silly, eh?Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
June 22, 200718 yr The reason is that you need to choose the same Aircraft type and the same paint and the same location and the host must check "Share my Aircraft".This is how it works here..Enjoy
June 24, 200718 yr Commercial Member Another thing to watch for is complex addon aircraft in your inventory, especially FS9 ones. I've had a few cases where after 'trusting' a gauge from an old fs9 plane, that my cockpit sharing is completely hosed for all aircraft, including FSX defaults. If you're having persistent problems with greyed out join buttons, and you're doing everything correctly, you might try removing all the gauge trust lines from your fsx.cfg. FSX will reinsert the ones it needs by default. It may just be a GUID collision, however unlikely that may be, but it's cured the problem a couple times for me. Cheers. July 5, 200718 yr You don't need to choose the same aircraft you just need to not share your aircraft so that the option to join the other aircraft becomes available.
