August 16, 200322 yr We "2ch simmer" solved Radeon's no haze isue.at first, open "display.cfg" on FS9 folder, then you recognise no Radeon9000/9100 written there.so, if you add next discription:;---------------------------------------------------------------------- ; ATI Radeon 9000 ;---------------------------------------------------------------------- [00001002:00004966] TableFog=0 ;---------------------------------------------------------------------- ; ATI Radeon 9100 ;---------------------------------------------------------------------- [00001002:0000514D] TableFog=0 then im sure you get much haze.(like Radeon8500)lets try !!(if you know this tips im sorry...i feel great to get fog,so i have no time to search logs)boyoyon with 2ch
August 16, 200322 yr im Radeon9100 user and poor visual droved me so much.but now, i enjoy wonderful world !!!
September 25, 200322 yr Thanks for those two lines, BUT it doesn't work for me. I'm using ATI Radeon 9000, but your possible solution doen't work in my FS9.
November 3, 200322 yr I already had the display driver details in fs9.cfg, so I just added the table fog line to it and it worked.Things look great now! Thanks for the help - much appreciated.Phil Brown Phil Brown
May 1, 200422 yr Hi, I am using ATI 9100 128 MB i added these line into my display.cfg rite belowe the section with ATI 8500, but nuthing happened i still get the fog wall thingi.Peace!tj
May 1, 200422 yr You say your card is a 9100. Editing the section for any other ATI card in the display.cfg will not do anything. You'll need to edit the entry that corresponds to the driver name of your card.Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg
May 1, 200422 yr Ok... :-hmmm See the thing is in display.cfg there is no entry for ATI 9100 and the entry mentioned here does not work. This is what happens.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/74059.jpg
May 1, 200422 yr Try adding this to your Display.cfg:;----------------------------------------------------------------------; ATI Radeon 9xxx <--- make this your card model;----------------------------------------------------------------------[00001002:0000xxxx] <--- the manufacturer's device designation can be found in DxDiag.TableFog=0To find the card model and device designation in DxDiag, click on Start, Run, type "dxdiag", click on "OK". The DxDiag Tool now will load. Click on the "Display" tab. In the "Device" section (upper left corner) will be a line that defines the "Chip Type". That line should show the model card you have and the manufacturer's device designation number. The device designation is the last 4 digits/characters. Write down those 4 digits/characters and then replace the 4 "x" spaces in my example above with them (in the line above the "TableFog=0" call line).Hope this helps,Greg
May 1, 200422 yr I have a 9000 and posted this same solution about 6 months ago. The confusion seems to be about where to make the changes. If you add the table fog entry directly in the FS9.cfg file it should work right away.I have not tested this myself but I don't believe that the sim uses the display.cfg file every time it opens. I think I'm correct in the assumption that the data in the display section of the FS9.cfg is derived from the data in the display.cfg file depending on what graphics card it finds in the machine when the FS9.cfg file is created. So if you only make the change to the display.cfg you will not see any effect in the sim until there is a reason to rebuild the FS9.cfg file. Making the change directly to the FS9.cfg should get you the haze conditions right away. Adding the change to the display.cfg file will make sure that you get the correct entry if the sim has to rebuild the FS9.cfg. ...... I think !!!!JimBob
May 2, 200422 yr "Making the change directly to the FS9.cfg should get you the haze conditions right away. Adding the change to the display.cfg file will make sure that you get the correct entry if the sim has to rebuild the FS9.cfg. ...... I think !!!!"I agree. But so many people are hung up on that Display.cfg. I don't even use mine... had to go to an archive disc just to post the recommendations I made in my previous post. The file is useless except for the first time install... and even then it won't help many folks (especially if their video cards are new and not listed in the file). Hopefully MS will leave it out of future versions of FS.On a side note, JimBob, could you again post the change to the FS9.cfg for these guys. Thanks,Greg
May 2, 200422 yr This has been covered before, and it certainly wasn't these boys who `discovered` the solution!. You can force FS to re-recognise the video card by simply deleting the line in the FS9.cfg that pertains to the current installation:(DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600.0)Mode=1280x960x32TriLinear=1in my case, obviously it is different for Radeon card users. Just delete that segment, launch FS and it will then access the display.cfg file to find the parameters for the `new` card as part of the bootup process. Set your preferences for res, filtering and you're done. So you can make use of the display .cfg adjustment, or you can just add the line directly to the fs9.cfg, which to me seems infinitely preferable!Allcott
May 2, 200422 yr "Just delete that segment, launch FS and it will then access the display.cfg file to find the parameters for the `new` card as part of the bootup process."Not true. Prove it yourself... remove the Display.cfg from your system, then delete the "Display Device" section from the FS9.cfg (as you outlined above), then load the sim. You'll have to reset some of your display options (most notably the screen resolution, as well as others). Go for a short flight, and then exit to look at your FS9.cfg. The Display Device section will now be added. This proves that the Display.cfg plays no part in assigning the Display Devices section in the FS9.cfg.Display.cfg is used by the sim after it is first installed to set the display options as it believes best for your video card. That's it. After that it is useless. I removed it right after installing FS9, and the sim runs fine for me (after adding the Terrain.cfg tweaks to deal with the seasonal ctds). Like you, I adjust all my Display Device parameters in the FS9.cfg by hand.Cheers,Greg
May 3, 200422 yr Greetings all! Thanks for the tip regarding the haze issue for the Radeon cards.I have an ATI Radeon 9200 128Mb card. I added the tablefog line to the fs9.cfg file. Now I don't have that sharp, stark line that was dividing the earth and sky on the horizon. Many thanks to those who come up with these tweaks!!!Regards,ScottKJMS "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
