Best driver for ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB and FS2004?

Featured Replies

I was wondering what would you all say is currently the best driver for the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB video card for playing FS2004?I'm currently on Catalyst 3.10 which is old. I know some of the early Catalyst 4 versions had lots of problems and degraded visual quality in FS2004.Does anyone have any recommendation? I'm willing to use Omega drivers if you think it is worth it.Regards

Personally, I use the latest ATI drivers with no problems. I have the same card as you.

Well, I use an Radeon 9700 Pro. But yep, what Ken said. The latest, which is Catalyst 4.7's. Before that, the 4.2's were the best, IMO. But the 4.7's have now taken their rightful place the best for FS2004.Again, just my opinion.Regards,Jim

Hey...im getting the ATI Radeon 9800PRO but i put it in and then just instal the Catalyst 4.7 driver???(btw where can i get it?)cheersNick

Hi,I've been using Omega's driver sets for some time now and can heartily recommend them. However, I have to say that I have not yet noticed any further improvements in either IQ and Performance since his 2.5.36b version. On my system, at any rate, they have performed brilliantly with rock solid stability. On that basis I will need some persuading to change again.I don't know to what extent, if any, further optimizations are being made in more recent driver sets that benefit older cards like ours. I suspect the newer cards are currently receiving most attention from the driver developers...but I could be wrong ;)Try Omega's latest - I don't think you'll be disappointed.http://www.omegadrivers.net/Mike

You usually can't go wrong with the latest official drivers. Get then right from the ATI site. http://www.ati.com/
