Why two display adapters with the same name?

Featured Replies

Question; under my device manager tab, I click on Display adapters and I show one as RADEON 9800 Pro and the other as RADEON 980 Pro- Secondary? Why is that? I have only one card. Both show this under properties: PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0. The only difference is that the one that is listed as secondary has a 1 after function? Thanks

I've got a Radeon 9600 Pro and I also have two entries. I assumed this was normal.

If your card has two DVI or VGA outputs then that's perfectly normal.

Yes, this means one display adaptor with two different outouts. As you can set the resolution and refresh rate separately for every monitor Windows has to handle it as two different devices.Alex
