March 2, 200521 yr Author Hey buddy..i tried that. Now it thinks i have 2 versions of XP installed. I try to reformat by booting from the cd and removing the partion of my hd, but it always comes up with that screen with the blue background that says we have encountered a error and have shut the installation down to prevent further damage"Still trying to get it working..Can you possibly take screen shots for me of the reformating part of the win xp disc, just take a few screenies and inform me what to click? im so confused doing this.. never had so many problems with a new pc. :(:-wave Chase Barnett
March 2, 200521 yr Author do i have to boot from the cd or load the cd when windows is allready up and running? Chase Barnett

March 2, 200521 yr Yeah boot from the CD? You want windows on the first partition right or are you trying to put it on the second partition? That would cause problems. But it finds your harddrive correctly?
March 2, 200521 yr Author This is really starting to aggrivate me, every time i try to re-install, i get this big blue error screen that says something is wrong and that they are shutting down the isntall to prevent any damage. At first, i was trying to re-install windows from the disk while windows was loading. Then when it rebooted my pc and started the setup through bios, it got that big blue error screen again. I suppose i now have a partioned HD, with windows on one half and windows setup on the other. Every time i try to start up i have to choose which one to boot. Dont know what to do at this point. I might be taking it to the shop again. Any advice? Chase Barnett
March 2, 200521 yr Chase, another aspect before deleting everything: Make sure you have ALL the drivers and Windows Updates etc (AV too in case) downloaded and stored in a safe place. I would warmly recommend to split your drive into 2 partitions whilst your at it. I.e. 55-60GB for C and the rest for driver backups, Windows updates, etc. Of course only if not already split... In the aftermath, such operations are only feasable with tools like Partition Magic, Partition Manager, etc. Upon re-installing and reformatting you can do it for free (without the a.m. payware tools). Like this, you could connect to the internet with a relatively safe system already. An unpatched XP gets attacked in no time. Good luck and kind regards Jaap
March 2, 200521 yr Have you reformatted it before? Have you downloaded the latest SATA drivers to a floppy to let XP reads from? I don
March 2, 200521 yr Author well, i just wanted one. I uninstalled SP2 before i tryed any thing. Could i of caused a problem by doing that?I really just want one portion, that 2nd one was on accident. Chase Barnett
March 2, 200521 yr Not if you want to reformat then you erase every data on that partition? If you choose repair your win xp installation you can get issues though.
March 2, 200521 yr Oh and about creating one partition you can check for a low level format from seagates homepage. They usually have stuff for doing this. Since I guess you don
March 2, 200521 yr Author Ok,I dont know about you guys, but this is confusing. I have a A64 3200+ on a GIGABYTE K8NS-PRO nForce3, 1GB PC3200, 80GB SATA Seagate HDD, AOper 8x8 DVD R/RW, and a 9-in-1 media card reader. No floppy. All i want to do is just reisntallal windows xp. Just want to have a fresh pc again, with no nothing but windows. Any advice to clear this up? :) i get so confused messing with this..:-wave Chase Barnett
