March 16, 200521 yr If you were to choose between the NVIDIA 6800 and ATI X850XT PE, which one would you choose.I would be running:1. FS9 of course2. Lots of video capture3. At least 2 monitorsWould appreciate any input.Thanks.Abe
March 16, 200521 yr ATi for me....No real compelling reasons, other than I prefer ATi.Had a succession of cards from them from the bad ones (8500 etc) up to my current excellent 9800 Pro.To my eyes, the ATi IQ always seems a little better, especially with AA and AF turned on.Regards,Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
March 16, 200521 yr The ATI's IQ works best for me as well. Also, the nVidia cards AA Alpha textures, and FS's clouds are Alphas. A waste of GPU power.Greg
March 16, 200521 yr Author Thanks guys. Can anyone venture into the video capture and the 2 monitors plus?Abe
March 17, 200521 yr Gotta chime in here for the nVidia camp. Upgrading from a 9800pro, I find the IQ of the 6800GT to be much better in the AA/AF IQ (I use 8xAA/16xAF). Yes, there is a bigger performance hit with the clouds, but ground and aircraft textures swim soooooo much less than what I had before.Re 2 monitors plus, I was running three monitors for a while until my IBM 17" died (so much for brand names ;-)) and I cut back to two. The 6800GT is happy to drive two monitors and doesn't care whether I have a third monitor connected or not. Can't really help you on the video capture front sorry.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
March 19, 200521 yr I have been researching this for weeks online, as I had exactly the same choice to make. Online test results which comapred the two cards in FS9 - for instance look at, (and the following page):http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/2...ormance-20.htmlconvinced me that the 6800GT performs just as well as, if not better than, the ATI card in FS - and given it also cost Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
