November 17, 200520 yr I changed to AMD 3500 recently, but am concerned at the temp it is running at. It is not overclocked, but motherboard monitering software is reporting it as running at 119 degrees!I would have thought the thing would melt at that temp, so assumed the software was at fault. Any advice?Ray Keattch.
November 17, 200520 yr If it's degrees Celsius then yes, it should be smoking. But if it's degrees Fahrenheit it would be about right.
November 18, 200520 yr is that a good temp? right now, im running at 87f, and I honestly, want it down. Whens the time to get worried? Enjoy the bbq. Make shure you pull the brisket off your cpu after about 2 hours. :) Chase Barnett
November 18, 200520 yr Around 35C idle is good and no more then 50C under a load. 87F is 30C, which is very good, it's going to be very hard and expensive to get it a couple of degrees lower.
November 18, 200520 yr Yes 30C is quite ridiculously low for such a CPU under load. Mine runs at 52C ish and to be honest I wouldn't care if it was 10C higher - max CPU temp is like 90C or so, and I've got a 38C buffer.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

Nothing I can do about it except maybe water cooling which I've never been a fan of. Installed a great zalman fan and it has cooled it a few degrees but in general AMD chips just run hot. Thats the only thing Intel has on them
November 19, 200520 yr hmmm... i used to worry when i got near 85 or 90f. Guess im ok then. I just yesterday set the temp alarm to go off at 37C. Guess i'd be safe to turn it up some. Chase Barnett
November 21, 200520 yr Yes definately bump that up a bit. My alarm is set at 55 but my normal load temp is 42 and I am overclocked to 2600mhz The General rule for 90nm AMD chips is don't let the temp go above 60c and try to keep it to a load of around <55. ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
November 21, 200520 yr Well i tryed to OC with the Gigabyte Easy Tune utility, but im just not shure on what settings to chance. Bus speed, voltage, etc etc... Id like to, but i dont know where to start.. Chase Barnett
November 21, 200520 yr with your hot temperatures you definately want a new fan before you start to OC it
November 21, 200520 yr If it is Centigrades then it is not good. Also there was a problem with BIOS showing CPU temperatures incorrectly. Finally the new BIOS that came I think around September they fixed the problem. I am using the A-Bit mobo but users of other brands had similar problems with erroneous temp readings.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
November 22, 200520 yr Here is a real good OC guide, just remember to take it slow and test at each step and you will be fine. Also remember that once you get the OC bug it is just like FS it is real hard to stop lol. Proceed at your own risk :)http://forum.overclockersonline.com/phpBB2...opic.php?t=7974 ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
