New Saitek x52 issues...

Featured Replies

hey all, I just picked up a new x52 for FS2004 and have a couple problems with the config that I cant seem to figure out.For one thing, the top rotator on the throttle does not seem to work. It works in the setup software, and I can assign it (I tried assinging it rudder trim, and then tried assigning it look panning) but it doesnt do what it is assigned to do. The horizontal one works fine (I have been using it for elevator trim so far). The other thing is that FS2004 says that it should use the hat switch by default for all the look directions. I cant get that to work either (unless it uses a specific hat switch that I am messing up by programming it elsewhere... but the center hat switch only shows up in FS2004 as "hatswitch" and not button such and such...) Any suggestions, or howto's for setting up the hat switch and dials for use??I hope that made sense...its been a long day at work and I am having a hard time thinking clearly right now...CheersJeff

Hi Jeff, the centre hatswitch does show as "hatswitch" in the assignments, and should, I think, pick up the views by default. Go to assignments, views, scroll down to "views pan" click change then press the hatswitch. That should do it. Where you have a rotary assigned to an axis and it does'nt work, try increasing the sensitivity. Hope this helps.Russell.

By default sensitivity settings in FS are down to zero - took me some time to figure it out.I've attached my X52 profile for FS9 - it will work with latest saitek sofware (you can update it via windows update, go to saitek forums for more details). You will probably want to change button assigments, but this profile has 99% of FS commands mapped and properly labeled, so it's only a matter of choosing from the list.

It seems that my old joystick (Logitech Wingman FF) has done it

Thanks a lot for that. After loading the profile and trying it out the x52 works a lot better. But more than that, I understand exactly how to do the profile stuff now. I just got the controller the other day and had only had a couple hours to play with it so I had no idea how to actually use the controller stuff. So if nothing else, thanks to the profile you sent, I understand how the programming thing works now. This is the first joystick I have ever used that actually had programmable functions. Actually, its the first joystick I have used in a very long time. Most of my gaming is on xBox or PS2 and I only generally use my PCs for programming and work and such... I rarely play games on them, with the exception of some FPS type things...Also, to the other reply: Thank you too. I didnt quite understand the sensitivity and deadzone stuff until I read what you posted and then got to fiddling with them.CheersJeff

Hi,My wife got me the X52 for Xmas. It was something I have been looking at for a long time and was waiting for the price to come down.I almost took it back because I thought it cost too much.I was using a ThrusterMaster Afterburner II, which was all right, but nothing special. After using the X52 all I can say is WOW! Never before have I been able to hover or effectively land a helicopter. The first time I tried flying with the X52 I was able to hover and land like never before. Why? Who knows? Maybe I get more stable reads of the stick positions so I have better control. All I can say is that it didn

Personally I don't care, it works great, very precise and has tons of buttons, 2 analog dials (mixture and prop pitch for me), sliders etc.. and it is going to sit on my desk for a very long time.. and it glows blue!Things change drastically when you fly a military jet ;) - you get almost perfect setup.

Also picked up the X52 yesterday. There's a few things I'm trying to do:1. I want to use the rudder twist for rudder control in flight and the Big rotary dial on the throttle for the same function on the ground (ie as a steering tiller), however I can only get one or the other working. anyone achieved this or know how to?2. I am trying to use the small thumb-slider on the throttle as the spoiler axis but it simply won't work. The calibration app shows that the slider is responding but the assignment in FS doesn't seem to work.3. The throttle has a detent that can be used as the idle point with anything 'below' that being reverse thrust. Anyone managed to get revese thrust working on the throttle axis?Any other tricks you have discovered?

I have never got spoiler axis to work. It worked fine in FS22k2, but never in FS9. Tried default aircraft, addons, using FSUIPC to filter, etc. Nothing works for me.For reverse, I have a key on the 4-way hat3 next to the rudder. Actually I have it programmed for ATC, flaps incr, flaps decr, and reverse thrust (F2). So when the throttle axis is closed, then hold the button (I have a repeat programmed on it) you get reversers. Nudge the throttle out of idle and back, and reversers are stopped.scott s..

Hey guys, I just got an X-52 as well. All is going well and after a few hours, I have it set up and am happy with it.However, I have two issues that I can not seem to resolve. I can no longer load the Dreamfleet Bonanza - not sure if the Saitek is causing a clash here, but all worked fine before I bought it. Any ideas?Second, after rebooting my computer, the joystick itself is flashing all of the LED's on and off. The throttle is not flashing, all seems fine there. Any ideas on this one too? I have looked every where and can not seem to find anything that will help me figure these problems out.Thanks.
